I believe the problem here is that the reason why Anne was uncomfortable on answering David is because she didn't break up with him on her on accord. Her father was the one that broke them up. Her father was also the one that tried to arrange Anne to marry Robert because he knew that Robert would be a better husband for Anne and be a better businessman than David. Mr. Henderson knew David's true colors while Anne was blind to it. While Mr. Henderson was overbearing and protective he was only wanting what was best for Anne. Had she listened to him and her older self she would've had a much better life than how it turned out.

Although a reality for many a person, I do think it's mean-spirited to punish an 18-year old girl for a decision she made. Maybe Robert might not have been a great husband, working all the time and ignoring Anne. I think the real horror of the story is that our lives can go down a path we did.not want to go on and the past is past

@aishabintabubakr4944 Do you think that Anne would still be an alcoholic if she had married Robert instead? Because up until the reveal, the audience assumed that Robert ruined her life. Then we see that it was really David that she ended up with!

@@melissacooper8724 See, we as the audience feel for Anne -especially the adults-because we have the experience of what she went through from parents (Don't date him, do this, etc). The assumption is only made that she would be happier with Robert because the life she chose went with the other guy. Robert was not a bad person, but the inexperience of a young woman, taken by romance and adventure could make such an error. Sorry for the long response, but I felt thst unlike other characters on the series who deserved their punishment (Mickey Rooney, the guy that got killed by the giants, and Telly Savalis), Anne was taken in, duped, by a man who she loved, but was not good for her. It seems the most unfair, even considering Burgess Meredith's glasses breaking (he was pretty selfishness considering everyone he knew was dead)

Is it funny that I only really remember the beginning and end of this episode, but not the middle of it?

Probably because they're bookends as it were. The middle part was kind of boring.

Well, I guess we all have bad days. Mr. Matheson must have written this on one of his. This reminds of the Star Trek episode "Spocks Brain". There's a nugget of a good idea in there but it just came out disappointing (in the case of Star Trek, one of the worst in the franchise). Glad to see you're back! Enjoyed it.
