Now we have clips of all 5 Oscars that The Silence of the Lambs won that night. This is where the sweep started.

Jonathan Demme running out into the aisle to tackle-hug Tally was adorable. They had a very strong working relationship on the film and it was nice to see them both win that night. Jodie Foster's fist-pump at the end was adorable too. (I think she had an inkling it was going to be a big night.)

The script written by Tally was even better than the Harris book. Tougher, rougher, uglier.

I saw the Movie, but I have never read the Thomas Harris book although one friend of mine thought it was better than the Film. I actually thought the Film- LIttle Children or at least the ending was much better than the book by Tom Perotta- primarily the ending of the Movie which was much, much better than the Book.

Considering the fact that this film is still quoted and loved 30 years later is a testament that it deserved every award that it received.

Thanks for posting this. I'd also like to see some other screenplay wins such as FORREST GUMP, THE CRYING GAME, SLING BLADE, THE PIANIST, OUT OF AFRICA, FARGO, THELMA & LOUISE, MOONSTRUCK. Thank you.

I believe Thelma and Louise actually won that night for Best original Screenplay or maybe it was another year the author of the Screenplay won for best Original Screenplay.

Considering Beauty and the Beast was nominated for Best Picture along with 7 additional nominations, I’m surprised it wasn’t nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Truthfully tho.....was there REALLY any other movie in that year BUT Silence of the Lambs? When I first watched it, I was totally blown away....FANTASTIC job all around and awards well deserved, tho I was surprised that Scott Glenn wasnt nominated for supporting actor was he? Either way, this movie was an unstoppable powerhouse

I can’t believe The Prince of Tides made it into any of the top spots. The people who filmed it tried to tell the original author (who also tried to assist in the writing of the screenplay) what it was “really” about.
@HoldenNY222 жыл бұрын
What did they say it was about and what did the Author say it was about?

His adaptations of Thomas Harris are the only good screenplays he ever wrote on his own.
