@@jackraiden1102 I played all silent hill games and i know that there many differences between the game and the movie just like the main character in the movie is rose while in the game is James and there is a pyramid head but in the game pyramid head was only in silent hill 2 , In my opinion silent hill 1 movie is the best video game movie adaptation , I played silent hill 1 game before around 18 years and played it many times and i am a true silent hill fan and its my favorite game of all time

@@musicjourneymoussa3266 You are aware that the main character of the first Silent Hill was Harry not James right? And the story they were retelling in the movie was Silent Hill's not SH2's. They altered to cult completely, changed the main character's gender only because they felt that a man would never go through hell for his child, they also altered to cause for the other world and fog world. Honestly, if they had focused more on atmosphere, they might've had a chance. Keep a small cast with lower amounts of dialogue and just focus more on the same things the game did, the horrors of silent hill.

@@jackraiden1102 Your right his name is harry not James from silent hill 1 and your right there are many things in the movie was taken from silent hill 2 and also they changed the main character as you said and also i cant deny that there are many parts in the movie was very mysterious and no one would understand them that fast some of the mystery scenes in the movie was related to Alessa and Dahlia Gillespie and Michael Kaufmann their stories in the movie was not that clear and that’s what i didn’t like about the movie as well but over all i liked the movie and i hope that the upcoming movie will be more identical to the game (SH2) and specially because silent hill 2 is my favorite game of the series

Yes! The first movie was ICONIC. I think the fan boys saw how the other nerd boys were making tons of ad revenue on KZbin by complaining about everything on cinema, so somehow Silent Hill got caught up in it. The 2nd movie made it easy because yes, that was trash. But the first movie was excellent. It's a masterclass in Tone.

If that was the case, then Team Silent would’ve used Pyramid Head in SH3 and SH4. They intended for Pyramid Head to be relevant to James Sunderland, especially because of the crime he committed. Bringing him in SH1 made no sense and then making him a Soul Calibur arena fighter was f-kin asinine

Look up Masahiro Ito and the White Hunter, an alternative version of Pyramid Head created by Masahiro Ito himself that is not James' Pyramid Head

The creator of Pyramid Head wanted him to be unique to James, but he was iconic. Then he had different appearances, then there were other monsters that filled a similar role and had a similar design or function as him (like the Butcher in SH:O or Bogeyman in Downpour who is near 1 to 1 in function for BOTH major characters of Downpour.) So, deep research here, glad to have a chance to use my useless knowledge.

I feel the first film captured the feeling of the Silent Hill games extremely well, and although some moments were handled better than others the end result still felt like: "Silent Hill, but as a movie". The only failures of this franchise are the people at Konami, who willingly cheapen and flush it down the toilet!

Its not a good silent hill movie. For those people saying "its a good movie", its not, even as a movie by itself. You should research about screenplay. This thing is a mess. And you guys are like bums saying bread is delicious while just around the corner there is a restaurant serving lobster. You just cant tell why it sucks but some research will clarify to you. They changed the main character from a male to a female because Harry Mason in the first game was "too feminine" so they changed the gender. What happened to keeping the "spirit" of the material, if they're just gonna change shit. I just watched it like 5 minutes ago to refresh my memory and the pacing is horrible. They just dump all the info on you at an hour 20 into the movie and then suddenly it's the climax! Doesn't make any sense. Lisa was a short ass 2 second cameo, they cut an hour of the movie for some reason even though it could have prevented the info dump near the end so the viewer isn't getting treated like an absolute buffoon. I have no faith in the new Silent Hill movie coming out.

You should take your own advice and do more research before spewing garbage content. I'll agree with you on one part, the movie could have been better, but it's better than any RE movies that have been made. It's hard to take a game as deep and especially without the development team...and turn it into an amazing movie.. the visual art of the film is amazing, the acting is good enough..yes the dialog could have been better written though. Now on to the part that made me write this.. do your homework.. the original creator Hideo Kojima was in high-school when he learned of a place ( I actually live 30mins from) called Centralia.. the mining town that still burns to this very day... yes his original conception of the game and world grew from this. So in all honesty it should always be ash... the movie hit it on the nose.

First off it wasn't Kojima. Second "It was inspired by the coal fire, so it should've been ash not fog" doesn't mandate it MUST be ash. Plus, the fog hits a certain kinda way, like the Matsuo Mining ghost town, and fog would allow for it to come in and go and come in again as it does throughout the series when transitioning to the otherworld, or better yet, when the town finally draws you in and your trial begins. Furthermore you're covered anyway because Shephard's Glen has ash instead of fog.
