00:27 Silesia still exists today (it is spread trough areas of modern day Poland and Czech Republic), unlike Chechoslovakia that you mentioned in the video. Otherwise well done for the effort to remember your ancestors. Hello from Silesia!

I would love to hear the way those Silesians spoke. Also is this the original spelling of their surnames? They sound Slavic but spelling is very Germanized. The name Kosub probably means Kashubian another Slavic ethnic group.

When the original settlers arrived in this country from Silesia, their language was isolated from Silesian influence and became frozen. Polish priests who came to Saint Hedwig through the 1960s commented that they did not recognize the 'Polish' that was spoken around Saint Hedwig, Texas. Several of the surnames were changed when the settlers arrived in the United States. Kozub became Kosub - as a result, it is believed that there are more people named 'Kosub' living in Bexar County, Texas than the rest of the world combined!
