I've had t-tops, but never in my nightmares would I consider climbing out while the car was moving. On the other hand, when I was around twenty, me and some friends climbed a few buildings, mostly on the university campus, but one downtown. There were four or five of us that climbed a five or six story building that had an iron ladder attached...no safety cage, and pavement below. We climbed to the roof, and found a door--none of us were thrilled by the idea of going back down that ladder, and I'm just glad none of the others fell, because I was the last one up--and they'd have taken me out, if they'd fallen. That's the most dangerous climb I've done, but I've also climbed a big lighting tower in our football stadium. Only got caught once, which is why we stopped climbing campus buildings. Never felt like taking my chances on cliffs.

As a rock climber, I’m still trying to wrap my head around how that guy suffered a serious fall in an indoor climbing gym. I’ve never seen bouldering walls any higher than maybe 20 feet and you’d really have to have an awkward fall to incur those kinds of injuries (or have an object between your body and the mat). It would be hard to injure yourself rope climbing, though I suppose he could have had an incompetent belayer or didn’t clip in correctly; that could lead to a far worse fall than normal. Or maybe he was climbing on the walls that are exclusively for ropes, since those can go fairly high. But yeah, at least he was under no delusion that he could repeatedly survive this version of climbing…

I’m not at all against people doing what they love, but continuing to free climb without safety gear after falling multiple times and seriously injuring himself should’ve been the wake up call that he needed to use ropes. There’s a reason people wear them when they climb. Normally, I’d say do what you want to do. But, rescue workers have to go risk their lives to save you every time you fall trying to get internet likes, and that’s a bit selfish and endangers other people. It was only a matter of time before he ended up dying from it.
