Great insights and episode. While I agree on results over vanity metrics, not all brands are 'ignorant' when using them; rather, they serve specific use cases. Having worked at F100 companies in social/sponsorship/marketing/product roles, those metrics serve as a filter, given the volume of requests that may come in or in evaluating creators to work with. And, let's all be real, while they shouldn't be the primary metrics - it's the nature of the beast, and those metrics can tell a story regarding how you're helping the brand achieve their end goal(s). I wanted to say this bc, if you're a new creator and if you go into an engagement with a brand with this mentality anchored in your head off the jump, it could spoil the relationship and future opportunities. It's a give-and-take when working with brands. That said, I get what Justin is saying at it's core and I agree :)

one of the things I've heard Justin allude to that I love, is a lot of creators aren't on top of things, may not deliver on time, and if there's a brand that needs something in a pinch, or they have extra budget for something left over because someone else fell through, there's that chance because you're on top of your p's and q's and you have that established long term relationship of delivering and being a positive experience, maybe they reach out and plug that money and opportunity into you

Justin has so much fantastic advice! The advice about not accepting a deal without clear KPIs is INVALUABLE! There’s no way to measure the win and then there’s vague disappointment on either side because these unspoken expectations aren’t met. Good business has to be a win-win.

I'm a huge Justin fan. watch as much of his content as I can. I see a lot of people comment on his and others content about "its the same stuff over and over". to which I say, thank you. consistency of message for me, means the information is legit. and repetition means that it's much more likely to stick in my brain. and I can always find two or three nuggets that have never been talked about or a question he gets asked that I know will give me that little edge I may someday need because someone else wasn't willing to watch the content. thank you guys, great video as always

they came out with a report, I commented on Justin's video the other day about it, that brands are looking for more niche creators to advertise with because who wants to spend a million dollars when 90% of the people who see it will never be interested or care about that brand or product. better to pay a direct market and someone that their customer base would relate to, and get it in front of eyes primed for whatever it is they want to push

I almost feel like I got exclusive access to some inside information without paying. 😮 I can't imagine how much more value is in the program that both of you offer! I feel a lot more confident now speaking with brands and getting past the "we are going to send you X in return for a video" phase of my sponsorships. My next step is to get a lawyer to write up a contract! Thanks for ALL the info and taking the time to cover this in DETAIL! I wish you BOTH the very best! 👍🏾

1:02:19 - I think I crush it on the analysis side. The main brand I've worked with on a repeating schedule now sent me a free Christmas gift on top of things, has come back for more videos, wants UGC now, is discussing a long term channel sponsorship, etc. Post campaign reports are HUGE. Also, ask for testimonies if the brand says things went well!

Excited to settle into this--Brand deals/sponsorships are my bread and butter, and navigating them is how I was able to quit my day job with objectively not a lot of followers. BUT my strengths are in landing , 'upselling' and negotiating inbound requests. Haven't *had* to pitch in years so I have a lot to learn with the ice-cold pitches.😅

I've been pitching all week. It's fun! I feel like things are way more in my control - and brands have been super receptive.

@@jay I love that!! It's time to get off my butt--I've definitely always admired the control that pitching gives you, but got lazy because I "didn't need to'". Bewildered by my errors. 😭😭😭😭😭 Putting in the effort to refine my find-sleep-fast videos, thumbnails, and SEO-optimized titles, but KZbin seems indifferent. Scarce views. Picture yourself as a lone spaceman on the Moon, enveloped in constant lofi music from an aged shortwave radio-a distinct, ineffable melancholic sound. I've discovered its efficacy in inducing sleep, even on the toughest days or for a midday reprieve amidst stress. How do I "extend an invitation" for others to partake in this experience? Recognizing its niche, attributed to the unique sound, yet unexplored, I'm enthusiastic about sharing! To witness its impact on others, gauge their response to the concept, and ultimately aid them in finding sleep amid this tumultuous, stressful world. BUT - I'm uncertain about gaining visibility. Help..... 😥

Great video! Was wondering if anyone here could shed light on the process of attaining the actual email contacts for brands you want to target and pitch to. I feel like this is a topic within the process of procuring sponsorship that isn’t highlighted as much as it should be. I’m a travel content creator and created a good media kit, then had a fiverr seller do some of this research grunt work to find emails for me. With whatever emails she collected, I blasted out a mass email only inquiring for other direct contact email addresses for their social media marketing departments. Unfortunately I did not get the responses I was hoping for… Any ideas will be helpful…. Thanks!!

I create sponsorship reports on influencer campaigns on the brand side and it's so sad to see how few creators actually want to dive into it. We spend hours putting together a full breakdown and rarely someone takes the time.
@jay10 ай бұрын
Can you say more? Like creators don't want to SEE the report, or help provide information for it?
@willpvideos10 ай бұрын
@@jay if you’re an analyst on the agency side it’s hard to get time with a creator to walk them through it. So it just gets sent to them. Or the sales rep & manager see the report and do a bad job of explaining the content to the creator. Creators just never get it fed to them the right way.
