Well the joke is, is that Homer doesn't usually use his brain in situations. The interaction with him and his brain doesn't actually happen as much as these comps lead you to believe. So it's kinda an explanation for why Homer will do outrageous things, cause he doesn't think first. And even when he does, he's obviously not the smartest.

I think you’d enjoy the whole episode where Homer figures out a way to work from home. The show changed so much from season to season, you could be reviewing forever to find a favorite. It focused on Homer sometimes, then Bart near the beginning, but I hope you can see some Apu Kwik E Mart, and Mr Burns, Lisa in power, so so much

I just recently discovered this channel and it been almost non-stop Babyblu on my screen ever since. It’s like freshly mowed grass after a rainy day smell mixed with the warmth of putting on socks fresh out from the dryer…. or something like that. Always been a Simpsons fan since the 80s and I think Homer is definitely an iconic character with a very unique little something that makes him funny. I might be that there's many monologues, which in turn kind of help us understand the way he thinks and what his logic is so that we can imagine the reasoning when there's no explanation. And definitely check out the Indiana Jones movies, at least the older ones which are the classic ones, I think you'd like them :)

Just for some context: Season 1 of The Simpsons came out when I was in 1st grade; by the the time Season 2 came out, half of my class were forbidden to watch it at home. Why? There was a mass stay-at-home fundamentalist Christian mom letter writing campaign against The Simpsons, because of the way the show satirized American culture, and because Bart said such anti-establishment non-role model things like "Eat my shorts." Yes, this really happened across America circa 1989-91. Even the (then) Vice President weighed in on it.

Homer is also smarter in reality but his intelligence is reduced because a crayon got stuck in his brain as a kid. There is an episode where he has the crayon removed and regains his intelligence, but he becomes so disillusioned with how stupid everyone around him is that he has a crayon put back in his brain.

The uploader of these videos should give context to the clips, it will make it much funnier. For example the phone calls Ned Flanders keeps getting late at night, and Homer tells him to shut up, given the fact that those calls are coming from Homer, where is doing telemarketing scams with an autodialer.
