It is April 2024. We have just had this couch gag confirmed as fact. "Oopsie, our South Korean animation outsource company subcontracted some of their work to China who outsourced the work to animators in North Korea without our knowledge. No, we didn't ask how the sausage was made. We trusted the Chinese to do the right thing."

It isn’t slave labour, the workers are paid and more than willing to do the work. Just done at a pay rate that’s lower than what is expected by workers in the US, which is why they win the deal to complete the work. It’s simple, the work goes to the highest... er... lowest bidder.
