Yup. Imagine some years from now when we have 3D videos available (not just VR, fully 3D recreations of the environment with textures and everything.) THAT would be literally like a time machine where you can only watch. And the fun thing is that we're just a few decades from that technology.

Also a trick where, when the sim started painting. If you paused the game, alt+tab and went to the folder where the .jpg/png files where for the game, and "switched" out the file for the painting (choose any picture of your choice, and then re-saved it with the same name), and when you went back in the game and clicked play, the sim would actually paint that very picture that you choose. I remember having several types of custom paintings resembling real photos. Quite neat 😊

@@ifabianxd1338 you just need to go to the folder of the game where the songs that are played on the radio are. Copy them and move somewhere else, delete (or cut and paste in a different folder - I've always been scared to do this) and add your own mp3s to the folder.

There is something about the elegance and simplicity of the first game combined to its lonely, sunday afternoon atmosphere that makes it an incredibly enjoyable and memorable experience for me. I just got back to the Sims 1 a few days ago after almost a decade not playing it, and the moment I heard the music from the launcher I was hooked like my 12 years old self was back in the days. Something about the game graphics in that time... You'd think that today's kids are luckier but I don't feel like that's true. You really didn't need the full 3d environment to feel immersed in the game. The games gave your mind just the right amount of information it needs to fill in the blanks with your imagination and you using that imagination is probably what made these games so enjoyable. Maybe it's similar to reading comic books. Also games like The Sims 1 and Red Alert allowed themselves to have more realistic looking elements than the current ones which is something that helped with the immersion, just look at the furniture and character design in Sims 1.

One thing I'll apprecdiate the Sims 3 for is how they brought back the classical-music vibe to build/buy mode (and inside the rabbit hole buildings like the spa one for instance, actual Sims 1 soundtracks play in there!) Was hoping Sims 4 would have had some sort of nod towards Sims 1 but if anything it's got a lot of nods to Sims 2's wackiness (which isn't bad!). I remember when my mom randomly came home one day with a huge Sims boxset which included Hot Date and Vacation. I spent HOURS and DAYS on this game. I remember when you could take the music files and copy them to your computer. I burnt a CD with some of the Vacation songs and my ex let me have his copy of Makin Magic (which I still have) and there were so many good tunes on that, that I burned it to a CD as well. I even remember being able to take music of your own and put it in the music files so the Sims could turn on their stereo and jam to Rob Zombie or Marilyn Manson or Britney Spears, whatever you wanted. lmao. Once newer Sims games came out, I downloaded them to my laptop and the job I used to have was a 12hr job where sometimes I could stay in the office and have downtime to play this to let the time pass. It was such a great time waster and I loved it. I play the Sims 4 now and I know I've dished out hundreds of dollars for all the expansion packs and kits....and I don't regret it. EDIT: Forgot to add, I'll never forget Drew Carey coming to my house after having a banging good party. I called my mom in to see it (we watched Whose Line Is It Anyway? a lot) and that was definitely one of the more fond memories I have of the game being unique to me.

Omg the sims Latin music just hits different 😖❤️ I've had some of the songs as my ringtone during school! That was a good 10+ years ago

That extasy hearing this intro music after waiting 100000000000000 hours for this game to install :) and praying your PC is not crashing on it :D

I remember being excited to come home after kindergarten back in the early 2000s to play this game on the family computer. Those really were the days..

I love when people make videos like these. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to learn a new personality. Sometimes I just wanna see if I genuinely want to play the game I'm interested in by watching gameplay and nothing else. So, thank you.

My childhood friend received this game in the mail for free. She popped it in and we started playing it. I was so hooked that I ended up getting my mom to buy me one from Walmart. I lost so much sleep staying up all night playing this game. My childhood ❤

My dad used to play this in the early 2000s -- he thought it was a building game (because he likes architecting and floor planning). He only began to play it and later realized that it's a life simulation game. He got addicted into it and had fun in his early days.

I remember finding my first "hack" when playing newbie family - if you don't complete the tutorial and just minimize it, the needs almost never decay. Still couldn't get enough friends to get to top of some carriers though

I was 6 years old. I went to my neighbours house to hangout and she had the Sims 1. We’d play it together. Two years later, she moved out. When I was 15, I bought my very first Sims game - The Sims 2 Deluxe Edition. And I can’t stop playing it since. 😄

Sims 1 is a true gem. Yeah, it still had DLC like most Sims games, but it was special. It was beginning of one of the most famous "person" simulators in the world. It's from a time when Maxis was still a relatively unknown company; really only known for generic Sim games.
