I've had mine for over a year, and it makes a MASSIVE difference in immersion! At first I only used it while flying ships, but after having watched a few of your videos, I tweaked the settings and started using it on foot as well, and now I cannot play without it! The only drawback I find, is that you get used to it so quickly - it does not work in remote turrets, as you're not "physically" in that turret. This makes the Hurricane so much more fun than the Scorpius. Whenever I jump into a remote turret I instantly feel how boring it becomes without eye tracking.

You will quickly notice It’s not that’s wrong. Because it is very easy for you to slightly look away and your lock breaks. I’ve noticed it actually is better without that setting on.

It adds so much to the immersion and the situational awereness and I´m so glad, that it works so well with glaces! I would like to add, that - especially in a Hornet - players can really make an advantage by using the head/eye tracking for the manual gimbal mode where the turrets can be directed by just looking at the target.

Thank you sooo much for showing your options window, I was able to finalllly tweak mine into a better feeling/smoothness I've been fiddling with it for months and I feel so silly of how easy it was to tweak just a lil here/there after baselining of what you use. I'm so fking happy with it now not even joking that I started to cry a bit. I mean like spending /that/ much on a tool then not really getting how to tune it was so so frustrating and upsetting to my autistic noodle. Thank you ;w;

Got a Tobi since a couple of years and using it 24/7. If not ingame, I use it for windows to unlock the PC or to change focus of windows, pretty useful little tool. I mostly decided for a Tobi because you do not need any extras on your head and it works fine with glasses.

I've been using Tobii 5 for a couple of years now, and it's great. I do have to turn off camera boost and set the input mix to 1 (100% head) when sitting in the pilot seat, otherwise I find it's pretty much impossible to interact with MFDs.

i found that in a ship i adapted to it really quickly, kind of reminded me a lot of VR - on foot definitely takes a little more getting used to (i know some people prefer to heave it set for ship use only) but for me it adds so much to the immersion and situational awareness, like being able to keep looking around as i am running between cover etc. that i wouldn't want to play without it anymore!
@eavdmeer4 ай бұрын
One of the settings is kind of a middle point resistance. It tends to keep you looking forward more with small head movements. Setting that high in the beginning and gradually lowering it allows you to get used to it
@AbangSyaft4 ай бұрын
Do you adjust your tobii settings?
@Citizen_Kate4 ай бұрын
a little yes but not much - as i mentioned in the video i turn on a bit of smoothing to my tracking mainly for capturing video shots and i turn on tracking while on foot but turn off tracking while aiming down sights. i find the default sensititivity settings are pretty good, though i have adjusted the roll sensitivity a little in the past making it less sensitive on foot. Also setting a deadzone for 'position' tracking can help if you prefer less movement of your characters head from side to side etc - i quite like it but it might not be for everyone
@TonViper4 ай бұрын
@@Citizen_Kate I didn't hear you mention gaze based target acquisition at all. With the Tobii eye tracker connected, using the keybind for targeting the ship closest to your reticle will instead target whatever you're looking at. Similarly, missile lock will follow your eyes, and not the front of the ship.

I play on a 32 inch monitor myself and I have not noticed any problems with the tracking, also yes with the Tobii system you can opt for only head tracking rather than eye tracking or a mix - i prefer just head tracking myself as well :)
@SternLX4 ай бұрын
I think most of us with Tobii's tune the settings to be more responsive to head tracking then set up eye tracking to add slower, small fine tuned movements. So if you're sitting with your head still and move only your eye's it's a very natural small "Glance" type movement. It's very flexible that way. You can tune it to be purely a head tracker as well, which is what I did at first, then I slowly mixed in more eye tracking as I got used to it.

Would love a Tobi, just cannot justify the cost. Way too expensive. Half that price. Maybe.
@zeroxception4 ай бұрын
There are budget options such as DelanClip(an open source Track IR), but it has short falls. - no eye tracking, only head tracking. - Having to attach a device to a hat/headphones and having another wire esentially attached to your head, to contend with. (I have used one and it is annoying) Its like with joysticks, there is a device for all budgets. I think the cost of the Tobii can be easily justified if you play multiple Sim games, like DCS, Microsoft flight sim etc.

The Tobii eye is excellent, I tried it and I liked it but bringing it to my country they charge a lot of taxes, and I never bought it. Instead I use Opentrack with a Playstation 3 camera because of the FPS I got and I created my own light clip, it is barely less sensitive than the Tobii eye, although honestly the Tobii is cooler. I use it with il2 Great Battles, DCS, Elite Dangerous, Arma 3 and Star Citizen. It cost 10 dollars which is what the camera costs plus 3 LEDs and resistors. The circuit is full on the internet about how to do it, although making the curves and having them optimal is difficult, I'll stick with Tobii eye in that case. On my channel, which is just for saving our moments, you can see how it works. By the way, your old Citizen Kate, life in the Carrack and the Corsair are excellent, some of the best I've seen of Star Citizen. Regards

Hi guys, I just bought a tobii eye tracker, it works for head and eyes, I tested it on microsoft flight simulator. But when I wanted to use it for SC, nothing, it just doesn't work. I tried to use it in 3.24 and 3.24.1 not before as I couldn't get it to work and I'm absolutely sure that I've set the right parameters to restart the game/PC. Does anyone have the same problem? If not, I'd also like to know if it works for everyone except me. Thank you!

better than track ir or not?
@SternLX4 ай бұрын
Better IMHO. No additional device on your head. The movement processing is done on the device, not through software, so less CPU usage and less latency. You can combine head and eye tracking movements so look direction is more precise. I've used both TrackIR and the ET5. Put it to you this way. In the nearly 3 years that I've owned the ET5, my TrackIR hasn't seen the light of day... seriously, I'd have to have a hunt though my house to even find it.
