I love your review of Tyler Perry's 6888! It was honest and refreshing. You and your guest hit the nail on the head with this one.

It’s amazing how our people in history are given second class uniforms, conditions, food, housing, and turned it into first class work!!🇺🇸👏🏽 Thanks for a great review!

TP called the magnificent Debbie Allen in to choreograph the marching & she/they did a great job. Miss Kimberly, I saw the footage of Miss Lena Derricott-King watching the film. It warmed my heart and I'm overjoyed that she was able to see it before she made transition. If so many people didn't know the story of the 6888th, imagine all the other 'glory stories' that need to be told! Most of us have seen Kerry W in "Save the Last Dance" (2001) but have any of you seen her in "Lift" that also came out in 2001?

I enjoyed the movie. My only nitpick would be how the captain became a major overnight with no explanation. This was the right direction for Tyler Perry to take this film. He kept it simple, yet educated the viewers. On the other hand, Charity Adams's story needs to be told from the lens of a different director and writer who can get the details and showcase how formidable she was in her time.

Showing the exact operation of mail sorting would have been tedious and boring. We did see many of the women pulling mails from big bags and sorting in the backgroung. We also learned some of methods the women used to identify which mail go to whom.
@Just_Joy48 күн бұрын
@ no it wouldn’t have, especially with the magic of story telling. The fact that you said they showed SOME of the ways and not ALL makes my point.

This review was way better than the one with the guy who has a hate towards Tyler Perry no matter what he releases. This is one of best movies by TP! I think it's because he wasn't in it. Though I wish it had more depth it was a good try for period piece for TP!
@Frommalwithlove14 күн бұрын
@Quitee717 i dont have hate for TP, I just don't think he's a good writer/director. I root for him. We NEED him to be great, but he mostly falls short. He doesn't need a "good try", he has more resources than any black filmmaker in history, so he should actually judged more harshly imo.

There are 3 black women buried over in the cemetery in France. No idea if that was them. But I think it is them. I am a black female who served in the military. I stood and saluted myself. I wish more of these women are still alive.

I thought the relationship with Abram was very sweet and I agree with Kimberly that I would’ve loved more of his presence throughout the movie. With that said, because he has so much of a presence I think the man that actually ended up being her husband ends up being an after thought. I could’ve used more understanding of how that unfolded but I understand that this wasn’t the main point of the movie

Tyler Perry didn't do well with this one all the focus was on their attire which was the best part of the entire film and a black woman's love for a white man and that she had to settle for a black man. Once you get past the history of black women in world war 2 and just really look at the film it was not good.
@georgiaval111 күн бұрын
I absolutely agree. I am an Air Force Veteran, and I understand the importance of getting mail & I was just “state-side in basic training. I feel like I watched a totally different movie. I found the love affair not necessary until I realized it was a true story at the end. Abram coming to guide and encourage her was cheesily done. The CGI of the planes and ship was horrible. I could go on, but thanks for letting me vent.
