That's because the friendzone doesn't really exist. It's a mental state we put ourselves into because we don't have the balls to say "do you want to go out with me"? That simple question makes the friendzone cease to exist. Now you either have a girlfriend or a friend who will support you when you find another girl you share a mutual attraction with and can date. Stop being afraid to ask a girl out, and you'll never be stuck in the friendzone.
@Gaze733 жыл бұрын
@@Ouja What about when you go on one or two dates and when you go in for a kiss she says she just wants to be friends? Boom, friendzoned. Also, asking "do you want to go out with me" does not solve anything either. If she says no you are friendzoned.

You get out of the friendzone by ceasing being her friend. Don't be rude about it. Simply become less available (like 90% less available). Try to find interest in other girl(s). She'll only come around when she sees other women value you as a possible romantic interest. Women (naturally) compete with other women. Which means; she may decide she wants romance with you after all, when she sees you potentially getting involved with someone else. Keep in mind she may not pursue you and simply wish you well on your romantic pursuits. But hey at least you know she never wanted to you. If she does come around. Make sure you try to seal the deal within a few dates (with mutual consent). Taking it slow could cause you to be placed right back in the friendzone. Lastly don't use other women to get the girl you like. Let the girls you're dating know (up front) you're not looking for anything serious, at least not right away.

I have a dear friend that had a crush on me, said I didn't see him that way, we saw a bit less of each other for a while but he came around and I think we've been best friends since 8 yrs or so.I think here the main difference is a)how mature are the people involved mentally and b) how strong is the friendship before feelings kick in (in my case with my best friend we have an increddible mental connection being both INTP that i have with no one else, but that alone was not enough for me to want a relationship;BUT it was/is worth the hardship from his side to get over his feelings, and the pushing away awkwardness in the beginning from my end because some people are too important not to have in your life)

Better yet, stop hanging out with her and move on. Yes, she isn't obligated to reciprocate your feelings, however, you are also not obligated to be her buddy either. And, if there even is a chance of getting out of the friend zone, you have a better bet while you aren't hanging out. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
@Hakajin9 жыл бұрын
iris starr I think it depends on the people involved. If it's too painful to be around that person, or if you really aren't interested in just being friend with them, you shouldn't keep seeing them. DaBigMike27 For a while, I was prepared to get crushed. Until now, my relationships were short. With her, we were together for a really long time. We considered each other soulmates. We even lived together for a while. We were going to get engaged. I had never been as close to someone before as I was her. I'm taking the antidepressants as directed by my doctor. Considering the mental health programs I'm involved in, I can't really afford not to. And unfortunately, I can't really rely on my friends for undisclosed reasons, I'm out of school, and I'm presently too disabled for work. Again, don't really want to go into details. I can't speak for Matthew's situation. It's up to him if he has something to say. But anyway, thank you for your empathy. I know you mean well. But I can't use your advice at the moment.

Theres a pretty simple solution. Dont be friends with someone you only desire a romantic relationship with. Dont pretend to care when you dont. If you like a girl, skip all the friend stuff, be confident, flirt, and ask her out. Its not very hard. But being friends with someone you want to date knowing full well you dont want to be their friend is just messed up
@dantheman81037 жыл бұрын
It's also a good way to torture yourself. Yeah if you truly can let it go and be friends then fine, who doesn't want more friends. But if you are being their friend hoping in time they are going to change their mind and feel the same, don't be taken in by the tales of when someone did that and it worked, those are the exception not the rule. And most of the times it worked is because the guy actually did get over it and didn't live for her to change her mind. It's tempting to want to be around someone you have feelings for even if they don't return them. But you can waste months... or even years of your life on that, and just end up torturing yourself for a long time until it eventually boils over and you stop being friends anyway. If you like someone and they don't feel the same... walk away. End the friendship if you have to, because you are both better off without that crap in your life.

Most likely youll get a chance; if they say no to the date and friendzones you from the start just tell them alright please dont contact me. Just go your separate ways and you shouldnt contact them either. Its harder to escape the friendzone after youve been there a while than trying to break free as soon as you get in. If the answer was yes and the date goes fine then congrats; if its still a no even after the date just move on and dont contact them. Its their loss. Case in point: once I met a girl on the internet... and I was 100% sure that it was actually a guy pretending to be a girl. But anyway, it was a nice person and we became good friends, chatting over the internet and playing together. Long story short, she really was a girl (and a really cute girl to boot) and after we met in person... welll.... let's say it we've been a couple for 4 years.

The "Friendzone" is real VERY real, and the ONLY real way out of it is to cut and run. Trust me on this, been there so many times in college that its not even funny. I was a talented SOB in school in my field. Really Hot Girls wanted to be 'friends" because I was a "nice guy" and was always helpful and they wanted my help at project time but would keep me at an emotional arms length even if I wasn't really interested, but then expect me to stay up 3 nights in a row helping them finish their presentations or would use me a free therapist for working through their F'ed up relationship problems, (believe me when I say dealing with a couple of girls I seriously should have received a second major in psychoanalysis) After a while I got to the point where I was sick and tired of being taken advantage of so this is what I did. If they want to be friends then you have to ask yourself: How blue are your balls for her, and how much do you really "value" being friends -vs- dating (yes even guys value some girls more as friends and not so much as dating material). So when the ones I was truly interested in gave me the friends speech, my response was OK that's fine but I would also cut off all contact with them afterwords, when they pressed for me to help I would just say I'm already busy with my own project, or I'm already helping _____. If they got confrontational "Oh, this is because I just want to be friends isn't it, why can't you just be my friend but still help me pass my classes" (which is what it really boiled down to), I would simply say, look you want to be friends, I dont, I want more, I am sexually attracted to you and that IS NOT going to change, it will be a constant problem, period. I cannot simply turn off my hormones. If you dont have reciprocal feelings then this is the only solution because my position will NOT change. I cannot tell you how many of these "friends" TRUE nature revealed itself (anger at being denied free help mostly), but in the end it was a far better and less stressful place for me to be, so stay out of the Friendzone, its the Bermuda Triangle of relationships. Girls control sex, always have and always will. If your getting nowhere you probably never will because girls decide in a very very very short time who's in the "friend" box and who's in the "fuck" box. Just cut and run. Seriously.

I wonder if the person who came up with the whole friendzone thing ever realized that no one has the ability to control whom they're attracted to?
@connorskudlarek31199 жыл бұрын
It isn't about controlling it. I'm a guy, and I've put females in the friend zone. They're attracted to me and I'm not attracted to them means friend zone. They're in the zone that holds all my friends that are attracted to me with non-mutual feelings. Just like a f*** buddy would not be in my friend zone, nor in the "dating pool." Someone in the "dating pool" may not be a friend of mine, and they may not have slept with me. Make sense? Friend zone is a means of saying that "one of the two like the other, and the other does not like them back." Just like "dating pool" means potential dates, but not someone that is currently being dated. It's not an obligation to like someone, but it doesn't mean the friend zone doesn't exist. It most certainly exists, and it most certainly disproves the old belief that women "just want a nice guy." We know that is false because the friend zone exists! Women want an attractive guy, which includes physically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, financially, and character. Just like the friend zone proves that not all guys will have sex with just anyone, and that they also want a woman with a certain degree of personal qualifications as listed above.

RogThePirate Pillage and burn? You're confusing Pirate with Viking. I mean I know they both liked boats, beards, booze and rape. But they shouldn't be confused. Besides pirates believed bringing a woman on a boat was terribly bad luck. So they did what the Scottish do. Brought a sheep for the voyage. Also doing nothing only works if you actually stop caring. They have a weird six sense and can tell when you "I don't care cause I think you want me to not care" and when it's "Well I can't have you so I don't care I'll just keep my eye out for someone new."

Dropthefishtank What an out-of-touch thing to say. What if you're interested in her as a person as well as wanting physical affection? If you try to show, it gets awkward for her. If you keep it to yourself, it gets awkward for you. You can't just switch off the fallen-in-love part of your platonic relationship. Just because you decide against seeing her anymore doesn't mean you have no interest in her as a person. It just means you take the lesser of two evils and try to move on.

Being honest is always the best policy. However, caring about somebody doesn't mean you'll necessarily have sex with them or be their romantic partner. If she truly cares, she will tell you how she feels - and if she's not interested, that's just the way it is. You can't create attraction to a friend just because they like you.
@VideoGameMasters0910 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It all depends on you. If you are honestly happy with her as just a friend (and don't mind seeing her with a boyfriend eventually) then just be her friend. At least you're talking to her and maybe someday... But if you only want her in a relationship (sexual or not) and just being friends won't do, then be honest. Ask her out, if she's not interested and doesn't see you 'that way' tell you also don't see her 'as a friend' and just keep on steppin'. There are other girls out there, and honestly if she's just not interested and you don't want another friend, then she's not worth wasting time over. Most people are also stuck in the friend zone cause no other girl talks to them so they crush on that one girl that actually does. Star talking to other girls. Get yourself out there.
@lakeparedes592010 жыл бұрын
I dunno, man, if she really cares then she wouldn't have said she just wanted to be friends, so she's not gonna come to you and change her mind. I have plenty of female friends who I'm nothing more than comrades with. In my eyes, friendship is a closer, stronger, and better relation than any sort of lover.

***** I don't need this to be explained to me, I've been the same situation on both sides. You know what? I stayed friends. The friendship meant more to me than my personal feelings. Yeah it hurt, but I chose to move on with my life instead of dwelling on something I'll never have. Easier said than done, but this whole "friendzone" bullshit is stupid as fuck and used as a way to make the other person feel guilty for NOT returning your feelings. Yes, it sucks ass but it's part of life. You just have to learn to live with it and leave yourself open to other opportunities. Whether or not the friendship is legit is another story. THAT's how life works.

I think you need to reread and reread again and try not to take what I say so personally for yourself. I'm sure you've been in this situation and it sucks ass, but it does not mean it's the other person's fault. That's what my whole point was in my original post, that some people blame the other for not returning their feelings. And they get stuck in this cycle of feeling horrible they don't have who they want, and at the same time coming off as if it's the other persons "loss" for not feeling the same. That's what my whole point was. That the friendzone is absolute bullshit. Calm yourself.

I wonder where people got the notion that the concept of the "friend zone" was about the girl NEEDING to reciprocate the guy's feelings? It's just a "try" effort and a "fail" response. They guy tried to make a romantic connection, he failed to achieve it (or was denied it if you wanna put some agency on the woman). That's it.

The ending is just true. The only thing that might work, is if you just are yourself and maybe work on yourself. But if you do, do it for yourself. Don’t wait around for the other person to suddenly change their mind. Accept that they will never date you and if you can’t handle that, get out of there, at least for a while. Only if you’re truly fine with being just friends, you won’t just make yourself miserable. In my case, for about a year we didn’t see each other much and I needed that. But after that time we actually became good friends again. And around three years after rejecting me, she suddenly made a move herself. I honestly didn’t expect it and that’s why it could happen.

If your not hot, there not interested If your nice, your friend zoned If your not nice, your screwed And when you ask them out they will say no. And if your friend zoned, attempt to exercise to look nice, handsome, and maybe, just maybe they will be interested. Of course i doubt thats ever happening but it could. But anyways if you do get friend zoned, stay friends cause your probably not getting out of it and if you ask her out its going to ruin your friendship forever. Then how do you ever get good friends that don't want a romantic or sexual relationship?
@bobweeny8 жыл бұрын
you could get into a relationship with any good friend thats been around for along time if youre open for it. Its unexplainable how the mind and heart works in unison to make you chose which person youd feel romantic towards, but i believe all love is grown in the same way as to your parents, family members, friends and spouse. but the only thing that would be added to the equation of spousual love is lust.. the sexual attraction through looks and personality but even lust can be replaced with things like loyalty, duty, commitment, gratitude, etc.
@vulture_52128 жыл бұрын
Hamid Ahbedin I wasn't asking that. I was asking how would you ever have good friends if they all fell in love with you.
@bobweeny8 жыл бұрын
well the thing is you can love your friends... like you love your family members. love isnt an emotion, its the bond you share with someone. lust is the emotion youd feel towards your spouse along with having love for them.but evgen friends, if you have opposite gender friends, you may feel lust for, but it would highly depend on you to maintain your boundaries. religions tend to not allow you to even risk it cause of what it can lead to.
@vulture_52128 жыл бұрын
Hamid Ahbedin You're missing something. If love is towards family and friends and lust is for someone in a sexual relationship with you, then what about _romantic_ relationships? The kind of person you just want to go on dates with and sit together watching television or something.

I mean, they were attracted to each other, there just were probably other factors such as, but not limited to, he's not a great communicator, she's not self-conscience enough, she just fell out of love with him, she found someone better and did the more mature thing of breaking it off instead of cheating, etc.

I don't know. I've had a couple guy friends who later became my boyfriends. I wasn't physically attracted to them at first, but as I got to know them, that changed. Of course, that works the other way round, too: dated a few guys who seemed super attractive, but then I saw how they treated other people and their *true* personality came out, and I was repulsed. I couldn't even remember what was so hot about them in the first place.
@greatarabia80915 жыл бұрын
@@jwrigley47 Happened to me. One time a girl liked me and it really showed. She even told my girl friends that she had " a huge crush" on me. I didn't know I was attractive until stuff like that started happening. Anyways the sad thing is that girl stopped liking me after a few months because apparently she thought I joke a lot and I don't have a serious personality. The funny thing is she jokes a lot too but I guess she wants a guy who is serious the whole time. Compatibility plays a huge part in relationships not just looks. You know, I made the best move getting out of the friendzone. I kept saving myself for her, always being there for her - I was the best brother any girl could ask for. She fucking loved me for it. But date me? Nah, she kept going after jerks who dumped her. And she'd cry over and over again about it to me, and I kept telling her "you know, sometimes what you want isn't very far away" but she just didn't get the hint. So I told her. I'm like "look, do you like me? Because I like you and I'm sick of being friends" but noooooo I'm too much like a brother to her. nek minit, tell her to fuck off, and get my own damn girlfriend who appreciates me. Hell yeah, best move I ever made. Been over 2 years now with my girl, and I'm so glad that "sister" taught me the lesson to never let anyone walk all over me. I'm my own man now, no one fucks with me, and I love it.

Laika Lamarr I'm sorry, I think you misjudged me. I have been friends with her for many years, and we have both had partners in that time. I just brought my feelings out in the open, hoping she would welcome to relief to actually let her feelings out too. She didn't feel the same way I did. You have no idea how she treated my girlfriend before I ended my friendship with her. She insulted her, didn't support me, even tried to take me away from her. She had no respect for my girlfriend and I lost her respect with her. I gave her an ultimatum, to be with me once and for all, or to let me be with my girlfriend, because it was torture to try and stay friends with her while still trying to move on with my life. She chose to keep being a bitch, so I told her to fuck off and let me live. I couldn't go another day thinking she liked me when deep down I liked her, yet trying to be happy with my current girlfriend at the same time. I needed everything to come clean, and she refused to back down. She was never my property. She dated guys who hurt her repeatedly. She called them jerks, not me. She cried about them, and I gave her advice to make things work for her, and yet they didn't treat her well and she had to break up with them (or they dumped her). Please don't judge me and insult me further. Your opinion is not welcome anymore. You don't know the full story, and you STILL don't know the full story because I don't have the composure to discuss it further. PS: Please take note that I have not retaliated towards your insults, because they do hurt, and they are completely unfounded and uncalled for. Sure, I'm just a person on the internet with no face, no personality, no feelings, no soul, but I would like you to find the respect and humanity inside you to speak to me like a human being. I am doing you the same honor, I would appreciate it in return. If you are unable, please refrain from commenting further. Your insults are not welcome.

Grant Wallace i can vouch for this, sadly. One time i told a girl to go fuck herself after she was acting all catty. A few weeks later she asked if i'd take her out. What a funny business. It's not cuz women are complicated. They're batshit clueless about what they want.

The friend zone doesn't exist. A girl isn't required to have sex with you just because you're nice to her. If that was true, she'd have a hundred boyfriends, and wouldn't think of you anyway. End of discussion.

It's not just about getting laid. If you have strong romantic feelings for someone but they only see you as a friend, you're in the friend zone. Of course it doesn't exist as an actual physical thing, it's just a term to describe the shitty experience of unreciprocated love.
@Benny-Arts9 жыл бұрын
YoYoMa its just a soft term for rejection
@IbeCosmic9 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but I don't think its wrong to use the term friend zone, because it is a real thing. It's seriously just when you ask someone out or share feelings and they say they don't feel the same but want to remain friends. It happens, and 'friendzone' is a pretty good term for it. It's not inherently derogatory, it rolls off the tongue...

When I get put in the friend zone, I stop talking to the woman. I realize that she isn't obligated to reciprocate my feelings for her, however, the friendship really doesn't work. Why? While you, the guy in the friend zone, are hanging out with her you're really going to spending the entire time fantasizing about her suddenly loving you back. This makes hanging out really awkward for you. Therefore, the best thing to do is stop talking to the woman. Don't return her calls, don't text her back, don't go hangout. Instead, focus on moving on. Hey, perhaps she'll grow interested in you in the time you are apart. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. However, if she isn't interested, you can move on anyway.

I was in doubt if I was in the friend zone turns out no, girl I liked was my best friend loved hanging out with me and she was always personal with me always holding my hand and lieing on me but I never got the guts to ruin friendship confessing, after I moved away she message me saying she liked me I did the same and now we're i agony cuz we never confessed Moral: don't do this fucking movie cliché it's a whole lot worse that getting rejected ( I think ) sometime it's not friend zone just fear of rejection

Step 1: Walk away Step 2: Enjoy the rest of your life Step 3: Find someone who will reciprocate your feelings. If you sit in the friend zone for too long then you will damage your ability to love properly, get out asap. A good rule of thumb, don't trust a woman's opinion of the friend zone, very few are able to empathize with men properly [they don't get how it feels].
@jonquilgemstone6 жыл бұрын
Leilah Nicki I've seen it hurt a man--someone extremely dear to me. It happened to him a couple of times in a couple of ways. Before that, I was just cold to guys if I thought they might like me. Afterwards, I've been nicer but kept hoping and praying none of them like me. The last thing I as a woman want is to play with a man's heart...but I can't force myself to fall in love. The best I can do is be a good friend and support them while still making it clear I have no other interest. If they wind up falling for a while, that is neither my fault nor theirs. I wouldn't ditch them (because I witnessed how hurtful that is), but I would give them enough room to get over their infatuations (since I also witnessed how hard it is to be too near an unrequited love). Once they move on, then we can be more familiar again. If they need a reminder that I'm not interested, then a clear splash of reality would be in order.

@blboy12910 жыл бұрын
The friendzone does exist but not in the way that most guys make it out to be. The real friendzone is when the guy or girl is actually thinking about a relationship but decides not to risk ruining things. The fake friendzone is a bunch of guys/girls thinking that a girl not being interested in you is the friendzone

Let me make this simple. If she isn't interested in you end of story. Credits roll. GAME OVER Majority of girls don't want a douche bag. Its just that you either see him as a douche bag because you can't deal with the fact that she has a preference that you don't fall under. Sure there are girls that do but most women want somebody who treats them well. Also if you are being nice to somebody just to get in their pants you are not a nice guy, you are a deceiver and a liar. That's all there is to it. People aren't vending machines where if you insert enough kindness love or sex pops out. You can go to the moon and back for him/her and he/she could STILL not be interested in you. You know why? because they are PEOPLE with REAL emotions. Sure gratitude will probably exist but gratitude doesn't equal desire. In short he/she doesn't owe you anything and I'm sorry if that persons friendship is a crappy consolation prize... At least that's what I would say if I were actually sorry.

@ToshiUchiha710 жыл бұрын
Izaya Orihara I don't do that. I genuinely want to be nice people. Even the people I hate... at times. These girls fail to see that. Even when they...friendzone me, I'm still nice. I don't know... I just don't know.
@KuroKitsune10110 жыл бұрын
ToshiUchiha7 There's no way to put it gently, girls will only "friendzone" somebody if they either 1- are not looking for a relationship at that given point and time or 2- are simply not interested in dating you. It's not your fault or theirs it's just how it is.
@ToshiUchiha710 жыл бұрын

if you get friendzoned by someone you had a huge crush on that wouldnt go away, just walk away from the friendship or keep the relationship at a distance. focus on yourself and your work or your dreams. dont try and rebound with someone else. work on trying to make you happy and accept yourself with all goods and bads. once you know ur worth, just go for someone else. its sounds much easier said than done but i found it to be only real way of getting over it. if he/she doesnt want you, then accept it and move on.

It's even crappier when you're the girl who's friendzoned. It's awesome when a guy hits on a girl, but it's just since forever set in stone that a girl can't hit on a guy. I mean, she can, but it's seen as inappropriate.
@Aubatron10 жыл бұрын
Naw, it's awesome when a girl hits on a guy. Just don't do too much and cut it out right away if you get the idea that he is not interested because it gets annoying fast if you're not interested in the girl.
@Rodgerinho10 жыл бұрын
Crappier? Or just rare and harder to know how to deal with for girls? Guys get friend-zoned ALL.THE.TIME. So we know how to get over it. Care less, get drunk, focus on sports, endlessly try to impress her while she takes complete advantage and laps it up, we have tons of different ways to get over the friend zone :). I always say to guy friends it's actually their own damn fault if they fall into the latter situation, especially if it's regular or repeated, you need to know people will take advantage of you if you let them. If you were my sister or close friend I'd tell you that if he isn't chasing you, you need to do everything in your power to avoid and ignore anything romantic with him, find someone else. Guys chase the girls they care about like crazy, the right girl will get a full hail-mary effort. And you can hit on a guy, of course you can, just use all your feminine subtlety, talk to an older woman or check the internet for tips, but we're pretty easy to work out, guys get turned on easily, just do things to get close and make yourself the focus of attention, we love to look :). And I can say for a fact that you can do it so we never even know it's deliberate haha
@Lolinkassi10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but you know what I mean :D
@Rodgerinho10 жыл бұрын
Lolinkassi Well you look really cute, I'm sure most guys would be absolutely delighted if you were interested, just be open and don't get stuck on that one guy, he's 100% not worth it, if he isn't showing signs of being keen. I hope you find that out now rather than later when your self-esteem is shot and you're feeling worth less than you are. You deserve a guy that chases you and makes you feel special, every girl does, and the right guy will do that. All the best
@ggmaliki10 жыл бұрын
Aubatron This is how "friendzoners" feel. They're not interested and only saw you as a friend. You can try to woo them, but if you're obviously failing, stop and move on before he/she begins to hate you.
