I have a question for you all. I counted 9 boats in that area and of you average 2 people per boat and let's say.uoir limit is 26 crappie per angler that's 450 fish from thst area and multiply that by 7 days a week that's 3150 crappie per week. Soy questions this ...how long do you think.thr gishery will last? And as a second question when it does collapse what do the Fishman blame it on in your area. I'm my area they.always find something else yo blane it on. It's never human error. Luke for example one lake close to me has a walleye population problem and yhe anglers all blame the crappie I the lake. It canyt be the fisherman keeping every.walleye they catch. Their attitude is...humans don't make mistakes mother nature does. 😒 but isnt that funny if you get rid of humans mother nature flourishes. 🤔 Like your show but l think you do over keep sometimes.

We could have kept 90, but we only kept 23 haha. The crappie population is thriving in this lake and they reproduce and grow at a rapid rate. A few years ago the limit was only 20 per person at 8” min. Now it is 30 per person 10” min. There are fisheries biologist out here doing creel surveys and population dynamic studies all the time out here. While there are a lot of fish coming out of this spot right now, it is a very tiny area compared to the entire lake. It’s just an easy access hotspot during the winter, but the majority of the crappie population out roaming in the lake are generally being untouched right now. As long as people are being responsible and abiding by the regulations in place, which most are because it’s highly regulated out here, then I don’t see any issue right now, but it is definitely something to think about and keep an eye on!

Ronson you are correct! Lake Conroe in Texas used to have a crappie population like this, but with fishing pressure their counts are WAY down even with fisheries biologists and creel surveys doing their thing. In fact, some marinas have started purchasing fry crappie to place in the lake in hopes of bringing it back. The marinas are smart enough to know that people not catching fish affects their business. Every creel survey for all lakes near Houston, Texas is WAY down. They cannot stock fry fast enough for all species. Then we have extreme droughts, wide weather, and pollution affecting waters. Sadly, many of our waters are now catch and release only because of mercury, dioxin, pcb's, etc.

You all did great got some good dinners ahead and I don't think some people need to know that crappie will always be in abundance black crappie lay between 11000 to 188000 eggs and white crappie 2900 to 91700 eggs and hatch within 3 to 5 days when they spawn that's alot of fry hatching keep on keeping you guys are awesome
