I've been in the roofing industry for years, and started in the sales side of it not to long ago!! I've sold a few roofs just of my natural hustle. Lately I've been getting a lot of NO's and I used this today and got a yes, and noticed that the entire conversation changes with these adjustments. Thanks man I will look into obtaining the rest of your program.

Wasn't having the success I'd like to knocking doors for storm damage so I searched "storm damage pitch". Found this. Tried it. It worked the 1st time, I signed her up. About 3 minutes in she mentioned turning another guy down, who was doing the same thing in the past. I asked her what he did? She said, "I didn't like how he did it. You and me already had more of a conversation than he did the whole time he was here." It works. Start a conversation 😁

I have had four different licensed residential roofing companies inspect and bid on my job and I was not impressed with any of them. Instead I sent out an RFQ Request For Quotation to two commercial building roofing contractors and the difference is huge. The residential roofers were there for the money and the commercial roofers were concerned about quality, quality and quality. The commercial building roofers did not require "appointment setters" and had a long history and portfolio of excellent work. My first roofing bid came in today and it is not much more than the "residential" roof contractor.

My favorite video so far. I've never made a sale(YET) but I've been going door to door, and my anxiety goes through the roof because I just don't know what to say. It quickly got a lot better to over come that fear, to JUST DO IT! At the end of the day I reflect on what you said in one of your previous videos, about how it's like a muscle. You work it everyday, and you get stronger. Your SLAP formula was exactly what I was missing and before this video was even through I drafted a simple one line script "Hi my name is Danny, I’m in the [Name of the subdivision] due to recent hail damage in THIS area, and I’m just checking to see when was the last time you had your roof inspected for hail damage or had it maintained?" using that open ended question, where as "have you had your roof inspected?" bam, just like that easy "no" and the door closes. Sometimes it's that simple little detail that makes all the world of a difference. I have another company Bee Man Dan that normally does well(not like roofing), and I have a very thorough script that changed the game for me in terms of securing Bee Hive Removal jobs(I do live humane relocations so they can recover and continue to thrive in our environment). So I know that bargain value of your Battle Pack just for the pre-written letters and scripts, is MORE THAN WORTH IT WITHOUT A DOUBT. I can't wait to sell my first roof so that I can purchase it, and I believe this video was the final piece I was missing to make it happen! Thank you again, you're the best!
@TheRoofStrategist

Heck yeah, Dan! First of all, I agree with you 100% that "sometimes its that simple little details that makes all the world of a difference." Almost all of my BIG breakthroughs have been "tiny" improvements or tweaks that open the floodgates. I love how you think. Sidenote, totally dig what you're doing with beehive relocation. I geek out on bees and their ecological importance. I also happen to love REAL honey. Once you eat the real thing you can never go back! Be well my dude and reach out anytime!!

As a buyer I always hire three different structural and pest control firms for my inspections. I require photos of all findings and have been known to pay a bonus for finding evidence of any structural damage and or insects or pests. I am in California, and have always found insect damage in existing buildings for sale. Inspection fees are cheap when comparing to potential repair and remediation costs. I never show the results to the seller since I paid for the work and the inspectors work for me. The inspections are for the benefit of the buyer and not the seller. I always assume that the seller knows the location of the damaged wood and where the termites are hiding. Competition for business helps produce accurate results.

This is great...I just started with a roofing company in FL. Some of the training they are giving us recommends that we ask if they are the homeowner and how long they have lived there at that residence. In order to be considered a quality lead. Asking them "hi are you the homeowner?" and "how long they have lived there?" seems like random questions to somehow sneak into a pitch like using the SLAP formula. Any suggestions how to do that?
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 4 жыл бұрын
I would slip in later into the conversation rather than use it as the opener. The SLAP formula is designed to start the conversation and get the homeowner telling you where they are at in the process. If you use an open ended question like, "I am stopping by after visiting Peggy's house down the road and helping her get roof approved this morning. While I was in the neighborhood, I wanted to stop and ask where in the insurance process are you?" If they answer with confusion, then ask if they are the homeowner. But if they say, "Our insurance came out and we are waiting for their estimate," then you know it's the homeowner :) Make sense? Remember, it's all about starting an easy conversation and getting them talking. Does that help?

@@TheRoofStrategist yes gotcha. I'm currently doing this part time and have been out the last 2 days trying to get my feet wet. Haven't scheduled any inspections yet unfortunately. I've been watching your videos religiously and have learned a good bit in the short time I've been watching. I'm not considered a sales rep yet...basically just scheduling inspections for the sales reps by knocking doors. My biggest problem is trying to determine which roofs have "enough" damage to go knock on. Is there like a minimal amount of damage that is needed to bother to have an inspection scheduled? Like for instance. I've come across roofs that clearly have tiles replaced and are a different color then the older ones on the roof ..is that something that is worth knocking on if that's all I see?? The training I'm getting just basically goes only to the roofs that are significantly more damaged? Is is worth going to all the doors in between those just to try and get my name out and market the area for future business?
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 4 жыл бұрын
@@Mav12282 GREAT questions! There are two schools of thought. School 1: Knock every door. School 2: Canvass with "laser precision." There is no wrong answer, and your answer depends on the area you are working. If it is after a recent storm (or working the end of a storm season), then EVERY door is the answer. If it's retail work, or an area with marginal damage, I am doing to focus on homes that appear to have damage, visual defects, or older roofs.

Great question. Your best next step is to ask WHY they feel that way. You'll need to find out where they are. Have that had 1 adjuster come out? If so, they need you for the 2nd one (re-inspection). If they had a re-inspection already, then you'd need to decide (along with your company) if you want to go to appraisal OR refer them to an attorney.

How do I convince them to make the call to the insurance and file the claim and then let me take over trhe process?

Great question. First, don't beg. It sounds desperate and homeowners won't like it. Your job is to act as a trusted advisor. To sell like a doctor. The rest of my answer? You'll find a strong case and talking points in this video :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6bYhKCmeN9gj7M

I want to get into the roofing, but even being vaccinated I do not feel comfortable approaching people. What could be alternatives, if any?
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 2 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the channel! If you're comfortable being around people, then this industry may not be for you. The only alternatives would be: #1) Finding a company who is selling remotely via Zoom or the like (they exist). Or #2) Join an inside sales team for a larger, more established company. However - you'd likely be around people at the office. Hope this helps!

Have you formulated SLAP for solar knocking?
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I haven't extensively tested this yet. But plan on it soon. The formula wouldn't change -- Say hi and break the ice. Let them know why you are stopping by (and make it relevant/familiar to them -- in other words, have a REASON to be there). Ask an open ended question such as: -When was the last time you considered eliminating your electric bill? OR -Where are you in the process of eliminating your electric bill? OR -How would you feel about eliminating your electric bill with no out of pocket expenses? Then Present to their answer.

Welcome to CO! I'm not hiring but I work with a number of CO contractors and can happily refer you to them. I always give a few names so you can both vet each other. Email me and let me know where you'd be living so I can link you up with close by companies.

Salesman who have the same approaches as you are the reason why I refuse to hire a roofing contractor that uses retail roofing salesmen. Once your customer has been lied to they will NEVER forget it and they will do whatever they can do to avoid fast talking salesmen. Windows and other updates and upgrades are also similar. I know exactly what quality of materials and workmanship I want and no fast talking salesmen will deter me from my goals. It took me over one year to find a window installer who was concerned about EXCELLENCE in workmanship and materials. I must have tried a dozen companies and NONE of them was interested in my two goals: Quality workmanship and Quality materials! Why? Slipshod work and materials is rampant in these fields. Most salesmen think consumers like me are the "enemy" even though we are cash buyers. Please explain while you look into the mirror why most salesmen are NOT con artists! I know Excuse #1 " I am only a salesmen" and I only know what the companies and manufacturers tell me. If a salesman does not know EXACTLY what they are talking about---GO! Get off my property! First time is OUT! Lying consists of two major elements: Omission AND Commission. But BOTH ARE DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. I read the fine print!

This video is about setting up inspection appointments not lying to make a sale. Retard

@@SavageMrFox-dh7ip In my experience, setting up inspection appointments is part of the scam. As a prudent homeowner, today I have two commercial licensed roofing companies bidding on one residential roof job. My RFQ requires that everything is spelled out including dates, times ( start and completion), scope, labor, materials, State Title 24, Chapter 14 15, Section 1500-1511, Chap 33 ( safety) and all roofing requirements, County building codes, MFG item numbers, grade of fasteners, CSLB contractor requirements, labor law compliance, General Liability and Workers Comp, types of scaffolding, cranes and safety equipment and all details including cleanup. I make my selection and approval based on their written quotations. I want serious, honest high quality work and not the typical "residential" roofing job. I have observed too many shoddy "roofing jobs" to pay for less. Who needs an "inspection appointment" ? I received my first quote today. Interesting no "inspection appointments" were required. How did I locate the contractors? By checking local building permits and driving by the jobs. What I observe is worth Gold. Is there a supervisor or project manager working with the crew?

@@SavageMrFox-dh7ip At this time I have had over 6 roof inspections each taking at least 30 minutes to one hour. I have varying results with widely different estimates for essentially the same scope of work. I have distilled the list to two commercial building roofing contractors. My roof was only ten years old and was recently inspected ( 2022) and was in good to excellent condition. The storm was a rare local event which caused major structural damage in my local community. Verdict, the roof on my detached garage was completely blown away ( in one section) including rafters, purlins and structural support members. File Insurance claims? ah Do you believe in Santa Claus? There is no law in California that actually requires that insurance companies actually PAY legitimate claims. Instead home insurance carriers spend hundreds of millions nationally on advertising to assert they are "honest" and can be trusted. Why? The Lady doth protest too much - me thinks. IMHO If they spent that ad money on paying legitimate claims we would know if this is the truth! But they will not. So they talk and promise and shout to the rooftops, "We are honest-really" while consumers suffer. I will be paying for the damage myself. I will absolutely require the highest roofing standards as required by engineering codes and regulations for commercial buildings. I do not expect any type warranties since most of them for residences are filled with legal loopholes and exceptions. You get the quality that you pay for.

@@SavageMrFox-dh7ip I just watched your video about SLAP. It possibly works with some homeowners? I am retired from the Insurance claims industry and understand how the game really works. My high income was mostly based on denying, delaying and minimizing all claims whether spurious or legitimate, legally of course. Who wrote the regulations on insurance? The insurance companies and their lobbyists? Your information on SLAP will help me in evaluating the questions that salesmen will try to ask me. But if they are NOT professional roofers what will they say when I show them samples from others?

I'm sorry, I'm very skeptical. Why would someone who was so successful at roofing sales give it up to make you-tube videos. Roofing sales is a tough racket and I don't see any earth shattering sales ideas here. I think this guy Adam may have been in roof sales but was unable to make the kind of money he hoped, and so here he is selling a training course. He seems like a cool dude though, and if he is selling his training course, more power to him. The other one is this girl Becca, the so-called "roofing expert" selling a course for $12000.00. She looks about as trustworthy as the man on the moon. Maybe I'm wrong but you would have a hard time convincing me she's some roofing expert that people go to for advice. However, Prove me wrong............

Hey Al, thanks for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts on my videos. I'd be happy to respond to your question. Why would I quit roofing to make videos? Passion and impact. My "sweet spot" is sales, marketing, and sales team leadership. My ability to impact others is 10,000x what it was when running my own sales team of 30. And managing 6 offices in 4 different states. I have clients across the US and Canada and my inbox fills up with real-world - unsolicited success stories on a daily basis. You'll find many of those on Instagram and my web pages. I back every product I have with a 30-Day, 100% Money Back Guarantee because I believe in what I do. If you aren't moved or don't jive with my approach - that's A-OK. And I agree - you should 100% follow whoever feels right to you. My style ain't for everyone. Wish you the best.
