This is the ultimate tuned sleeper hot hatch that scares Mercedes AMG owners, the Stage 2 Kia Ceed GT. An unexpected rival, but when its boasting its 260bhp and its light, front wheel drive body, it can certainly entertain the likes of the A45, Golf R, i30N & Fiesta ST.
We take this lovely car for a drive to demonstrate its power capabilities alongside its drivability, comfort and just general car-y-ness! The classic 'but it's a Kia' line gets thrown around loads, which is great when you keep up with 'em. This is the ultimate sleeper car. Building on the power the engine creates from stock along with all the sportier feeling components, this car certainly doesn't disappoint in any aspect.

Nice car, I've always kinda thought these were slept on. Reminds me of my stage 1 Focus ST; not the fastest on the road but holds up against other hot hatches. The intake noise on yours sounds epic!

Great video bro. You got the same weathershields as me too. I drive a 2014 Proceed GT. High flow intake with K&N panel filter. (Will be getting pod filter soon) GFB Diverter valve. Stock intercooler with IC resonator delete. HKS Ruthenium race plugs. 3" stainless Catback exhaust. I have a 3" dump pipe with 100cell cat to be installed later this month. A really good mod i may suggest is the Whiteline Motorsport Engine/Trans pitch mount bushes. They give you heaps more traction (biggest benefit for me) and engine response is instant. It also makes the gearbox more smooth and you can hear your transmission whine more, which is cool. Ot is very cheap too, $30 or so. Anyway. I like your Ceed 😎

Talking about spliiters i had one on my Rio made it low asf and it flew off on the motorway Thankfully no one got hit :D Now thinking of getting another one but recently started going to more remote places to ride bikes and it involves a bit of offroad action dont want to rip off the whole bumper now but once you have a splitter you cant go back to not having it

Used to have the 1.6 diesel remapped etc but yeah just wheel spin especially in the wet but yeah great cars no issues good value but now got an amg a35s saloon cant beat awd but it's near 400bhp on stage 2 :P

love a sleeper, cant beat a car that's boring to look at but can upset a lot of more expensive badged supposedly fast cars, back in my youth a long time ago i drove a rover 620Ti, looked like something your grandad would drive but had 218bhp which was a lot for a family car back in the late 90s surprised a lot of expensive sports cars, i miss that car.

KIA Forte is sort of an alternative for US. For a similar performance , you can also check the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. It has the same engine.

I bought a 15 plate one and the engine started knocking after 2 days, took it to Kia who said it's fucked and needed a new engine and after having it a month said they wouldn't do it under warranty so now deciding what else i want to get instead🙃

How did you get the flutter? I have the exact same set up with the BSR and forge BOV but mine makes more of a psshtt than a flutter 😂

Yeah mine just does more of a flutter sound under full boost. Otherwise makes the noise you’re describing. Put the stiffer spring in it though, that made it flutter more often for me!

Definitely! With the tune it’ll do 42mpg on motorway runs and a realistic 25-30 city driving. You can get it above 30 with extra nice driving but you can see 20mpg if you have too much fun

Depends on price really. The clio will be better if you take price out the equation 100%. Not sure how much the Clio costs but I’d weigh it up when looking!

Hi lewi, i am buying a gt tech and was considering a tuning box ,was the company based near you down the a12? Was looking to get Sports cat Gfb blow off valve Airtec induction Tuning box Pedal box

Blow off valve and intake kit are super easy to self install! The sports cat you could get done anywhere that does exhausts to be honest. As for the tuning box, I’d personally steer clear. I put one on mine before I got it mapped properly and it kept throwing overboost faults and made the car actually stall a couple times whilst driving. Super weird!

I'd agree with you on older models but KIA have come a long way in recent years. There are loads of them on UK roads and they are a very well established brand at this point.
