The worst part about the Aquaman Pilot was the embargo it brought about. You know how Nolan and WB said that Batman can't be in live action TV while he's also in movies? Something still happens today despite how much it doesn't make sense? Well, this show brought about that same stupidity for Aquaman in JLU, like how the cartoon "The Batman" prevented any Batman characters other than Batman himself from showing up in that cartoon. In the final season of JLU, the producers wanted Aquaman to play a major role, hence why one of his big villains was in the Legion of Doom for half of it, but because of THIS stupid thing, they couldn't do that. I hate it when shows have to suffer thanks to logic that only makes sense in the warped minds of studio executives.

The embargos are supposedly to not confuse audiences but it has the opposite effect cause these character have a place in different DC multiverses and leaving them out only confuses the audience ESPECIALLY when you watch these shows after the embargos and need to explain the reasoning to someone. The ironic thing is lately they do and don’t have it in the weirdest way. On one hand you have R Rated Harley Quinn who is a cussing murderess then you have cutesy silly Harley in DC superhero girls. That seems like a strange bit of simultaneous marketing that they Have that doesn’t have any issues in their eyes. YET Gotham can’t use Harley Quinn??? What’s the deal?

Hartley's "Green Arrow" (GA also happens to be my favorite superhero) was (is) my favorite part of "Smallville". They should've done (as much as I actually really like the first 3 seasons of "Arrow") a spin off with Justin playing Oliver Queen/Green Arrow after Smallville ended. Missed opportunity. Oh yeah... 15th

I'm taking a guess that Ving Rhames was secretly going to have a larger role if an entire first season had happened, most likely as the # 1 major villain if that 2007 Aquaman pilot had turned into a series. Ving was still acting in major movies at the time like 2004's Dawn of the Dead, 2006's Mission Impossible 3, and SEVERAL other mainstream films. He used a harpoon gun to kill that evil mermaid in that Aquaman pilot. Black Manta uses a harpoon gun in the comics. My guess is that Ving Rhames was secretly Black Manta and would have been the main villain of the series once that plot twist was revealed later in season one. That's just my guess.

Hartley was actually cast as Green Arrow in Smallville because of this pilot. It’s not being picked up is why they caste him, as they enjoyed working with him, and felt he deserved the push… which he honestly did. Dude was great.

Eye of the beholder. Not only did I totally enjoy this version of of Aquaman, I was champing at the bits for the next episode. AND a friend who was totally blown away by the special effects of the DCEU Aquaman movie was more interested in this pilot and the way it made AC believable without the overwhelming machismo of Mamoa. And she fondly mused that maybe the Hartley Aquaman may've been the DC equivalent to Patrick Duffy's "Man From Atlantis" as Marvel's Namor. :))

I am so glad you did a video on this Vee. I was fine with pretty much all the young Justice actors in Smallville. Great Green Arrow. Very good Cyborg etc While I'm not sure why they went with Bart/Impulse instead of Wally or Barry but that's the beauty of the Multiverse and he was entertaining. Hated Aquaman. I don't blame Alan but my whole life as a DC fan I was desperate for an Aquaman to be proud of. Not the butt of all JL jokes. Smallville, something I grew up with and loved didn't do my desire to see Aquaman given a rebirth of sorts where he wouldn't be the joke of the League anymore and his potential as an awesome hero would be tapped into finally didn't come fo pass. Thankfully, we finally have that.Justin would probably have been a good Aquaman but the timing and planning was all off. I am so hyped for the animated series. The comics bring a very interesting version of Batman inwith a female Nightwing but I really feel TAS will capture the essence of what made the show special. The only hero WB won't give a major live action show is of course the biggest Cash Cow Batman. If done right, I would welcome a new Aquaman series in the Arrowverse now. That could have a lot of potential Thanks my dude 👍

I like Just Hartley and Alan Ritchson, but I think I prefer them in the roles they played within the smallville show itself. I prefer my Aquaman to be a little more rough around the edges and I think Ritchson did a better job of embodying that. Hartley was just too clean cut IMO which was interesting for Oliver Queen but doesn’t work for Arthur Curry.

If this had been picked up the course of Smallville may have changed from what we did get. Justin got the role of Oliver Queen because this pilot wasn’t picked up, so either Oliver wouldn’t have been introduced or he’d have been played by a different actor. The funny thing is when AC does return in the proto-Justice League episode the writers clearly assumed this show had happened because suddenly there’s information about him that Smallville never explained. If this were an Arrowverse type crossover and the Aquaman show existed, that reference would be more understandable but since it was a one show franchise the lack of explanation feels more like throwing a bone to the comic book fans without the subtlety other shout outs have.

Aquaman series was not a spin off of smallville it was not in incontinuetity with smallville however the show did not pick up and they needed to bring batman to show however they did not have their roghts to bring the character however they brought green arrow since he is similar as batman so they realised aquaman series was not picking up so they casted justin hartley as green arrow!
