bending hectic is such a masterpiece. legit made me cry when i saw it live. you should react to the king of limbs even though it gets so much hate, it still has a lot of my favorite radiohead songs.

Hearing a few tracks off of this album (Teleharmonic, Under our Pillows, Bending Hectic) and Cutouts (Colours Fly, Eyes & Mouth) on their first album tour in Seattle, it blew me away. These guys just keep creating music and doing amazing things. I hope 2025 has more The Smile or even better Radiohead.
@ziemllch11 ай бұрын
Teleharmonic and Bending Hectic are Radiohead level good. Also congratulations for 1 year on KZbin 💯😩👌

Definitely check their debut album! It's more straightforward and I personally think it's even better. I'm curious which one you'll end up liking more Other recommendations: Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica Portishead - Third Nirvana - Nevermind (if you're unsure that you should do it since you've heard some songs from it, maybe run a poll to see if people are okay with it or not) Also congrats on the channel's 1 year anniversary! :) I've been here since almost the very beginning. Really happy that you're still as consistent as ever

@friendlystranger966211 ай бұрын
@@shanegallagher3524 I've heard this take plenty of times but I just don't see it. I love almost every track from their debut but here not much has sticked with me after repeated listens. Except for Bending Hectic, of course, it's probably their best song so far (still feel a tad disappointed about the mixing on the crescendo part but whatever). I have to say that in terms of atmosphere/general vibe it's superior to ALfAA but in terms of songwriting, at least for me, absolutely not. But sure, to each their own

20:36 it’s funny that you mention that it specifically could have used 3 more songs because for whatever reason they had 3 other songs they played on tour (just eyes and mouth, colors fly, and bodies laughing) that they left off of the album. It’s not like they don’t fit, musically and lyrically they are similar. The only reason I can see them leaving it off is that they want Nigel Godrich to produce them but I dunno. Seems like a total loss because I was actually very excited for the studio version of those 3.

For some reason the last few times I've tried recommend you a certain album KZbin takes down my comment. Not sure why considering I've been recommending it for a while now with no issues. Regardless, I want to say congratulations on making a year of KZbin!! I'm old. Sharing Mellon Collie with you i realized i never considered the album being an effort by a singular creator, but as a group expression. Of course it's dominated and lead by the lead singer, but still i always experienced as several people building, feeling together. I wrote it's generational maybe because creators make such layered music alone through tech, leading to different listening expectations. Sharing Wall of Eyes with you, i'm surprised by how you do not experience it as a whole. Or course, again tech is a reason; streaming, fragmentation. Also the being used to even more mass produced digestible on-demand entertainment. But it nevertheless surprises me how much you perhaps primarily regard the songs almost exclusively on their own, instead of also interconnected as a whole, a larger art piece of layers that offers a grander interrelated tension. And how much you just disregard and dissaprove dissonant or challenging sounds or parts, that aim to stretch the mind, aim to express fully fletched elements of life. As a old fart I'd just swallow imperfections or discomfort in order to first wonder about the meaning of the separate parts for the whole, or allowing them to possibly form a larger weathered experience, like chipped pieces of a mossy marble statue.

Teleharmonic, track 2... you seemed smitten by that. Try this: Imagine the song as a Motown number. Speed it up just a little in your head, and think about some smooth-voiced soul man treating this. Lyrics would be quite different; but then again, i can never understand what Thom is saying without looking at the words anyway, so it's not hard for me to imagine this as a love song.
