Dahlonega is about twenty minutes from where we live. I love that you guys love that place as much as we do!! If you haven't, and you get a chance, give Shenanigan's a try, just off the square. It's loud, but the food is amazing! It's definitely worth doing for lunch if you're wanting to eat dinner somewhere else. Great video!

We first discovered Dahlonega during Christmas of 2020. We knew where it was, but hadn't been there until then. Liked it enough to come back this past Christmas. I'll have to keep Shenanigan's in mind. Hadn't heard of that one. Don't know if you have seen "Christmas In The Smokies", but its a great movie that was filmed there. We loved finding some of the same buildings and scenes in the movie, as we walked around!

Fried chicken is my favorite meat when we dine out. I’m hoping Shatley Springs reopens, as we have been going there for many years.

I like fried chicken, as well. And this place has some of the best. And so does Shatley Springs. That's our traditional place to eat lunch, when we go up to visit Shawnasi's father's grave each October, in West Jefferson. I'm hoping they do reopen.

@@cumberlandquiltchic1 At the Smith House, they no longer give refills. But they do bring out enough to satisfy. If I remember correctly, the Dillard House did. The Smith House used to, but stopped. Not sure if the Dillard House still does, since its been several years.

This looks like a cute town. The food at the Smith House looked really good. Do you know if the restaurant is handicap accessible.

It is a great place to eat, and the chicken was amazing, as was pretty much everything. As for the question about handicap accessibility, I messaged them to ask, because I wasn't sure. I know we had to walk downstairs after going in to pay, but my wife thought she remembered an elevator. I will let you know when they message me back. I could not find that information on their website.

I completely agree with your wife on the correct way she eats chicken!! 😂. Please don't take offense to this, but I am a fellow animal lover like both of you. I am a Registered Veterinary Technician, and animals should NEVER be fed any human food. Bones are especially bad because they splinter and can cut the GI system as they pass through or cause an obstruction. Again, this is said in love as I know y'all and the viewers I'm sure are animal lovers. 🤗

Yes, my reference to a "dog giving you dirty looks", was a joke as to how I clean a chicken bone. I don't actually give our dogs chicken bones. I am confused, however, when you say animals should "never be fed any human food". We have been very diligent to not feed our Yorkies anything that has been seasoned, and certainly none of the foods that are toxic to them. However, our vets have told us that some human foods can be healthy for dogs...boiled eggs as a treat, boiled chicken breast (boneless), plain yogurt, etc. We have even been told that our homemade meals are fine for them, which include small amounts of sweet potato and brown rice, with boiled chicken. Are you saying that dried kibble is more nutritious than feeding raw, or wholesome foods like listed above?

we feed our sog chicken n rice, sauteed chicken livers, anything they want except spices and bones. what is human food? its what wild dogs ate before being civilized. lol dry dog food has fillers from rice (broken rice), corn, etc

@@NCMemoryMakers I think there very much is a difference between making food for your dogs as a treat and feeding them "table scraps". The way most "human food" is made truly is not healthy for dogs. The way you should prepare "real" food for your pet probably isn't the way most people fix their food. There's too much extra sodium, fats/oils, seasonings. I think all of the food you listed sounds fine for dogs and actually prepared in a way that is beneficial for them... however, I known a lot of people who will feed their dogs (with a few exceptions) almost ANYTHING they are eating. For the average person who isn't going to take that extra time and effort, they should avoid the habit of introducing "human" food to their dogs. Also, introducing human foods in addition to their regular kibble does increase the risk of a dog becoming obese and despite what "woke" people may want to believe nowadays, obesity IS going to cause a lot of health problems. For your dog and for yourself.

What was the reason behind this comment? Who said they feed chicken bones to dogs?
