Lyrics:
The rain falls hard on a humdrum town
this town has dragged you down
oh the rain falls hard on a humdrum town
this town has dragged you down
And everybody's got to live their life
and God knows I've got to live mine
God knows I've got to live mine
William, William it was really nothing
William, William it was really nothing
it was your life
How can you stay with a fat girl who'll say:
"Would you like to marry me
and if you like you can buy the ring"
she doesn't care about anything
"Would you like to marry me
and if you like you can buy the ring"
I don't dream about anyone
except myself
William, William it was really nothing
William, William

Oasis and nirvana were funny cos oasis disagreed with the lip syncing, so they swapped roles and liam pretended to play guitar. And nirvana didnt want to have to use a backing track so kurt cobain sung like it was an opera lol. worth checking out.

There are 3 or 4 guitars on the recorded track...he probably should have pretended to play his Rickenbacker 12 string instead, as it can be heard more prominently on the track.

I just love these old TOTP Smiths performances and how Morrissey always looked like he was dancing alone in his room despite being on a stage, and with the crowd and so on. So detached but passionate at the same time. He was awesome.

Yeah, I loved the thinly veiled disdain they showed for the concept of lip syncing formats too- unplugged acoustic guitars and no mic. The band stood for authenticity and consistently did so.

I was a DJ from 79 to 99. Alternative. Bought the 7" of this UK import in USA. Good track. However the 12" had an additional track on the b-side. How Soon is Now. Other djs in town had this track for months until I realised my error. I never bought another 7" record after that. Only 12 inch singles. True story.
