Great review! I'm looking to use this and convert it to propane. Any suggestions?
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609Ай бұрын
Thanks. I have just used an adaptor to hook it to a one pound refillable propane tank (see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXiafal7qryHrLc ) and it worked just fine, in fact I used propane for my Hajka oven test here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYKZdoSAfJqgns0 Happy New Year!

We have so many choices in caping gear. My first stove was military surplus very rugged but used and cheap enough. Years later snow peak is quite impressive, not to expensive and certainly well designed.

@@martinmiller7623 I really like Snow Peak gear. It is certainly not budget but a lot of it seems reasonably priced given quality and warranty.

Thank you for this video. Could you measure the height of the stove and a second measurement with the cast iron pan? I would like to order the stove and a wind break.
@dickinaroundoutdoors86093 ай бұрын
The height of the burner on the legs to the cooking surface is 4" with the highest point on the grate being 4.25 (but not where the pan sits). Adding a Lodge 8 inch skillet brings the total height to 5 3/4 inches. I used a tape so there may be an 8th either way but for a wind break purpose this should work for you. If you are going to order one can we ask that you use our link in the comments as that affiliate link provides a small level of support to our channel without any additional cost to you. If you are purchasing from another vendor I may be able to provide links to those as well if you let me know. Thanks for checking out the channel.

@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 thank you for providing the measurements. I will use the links when I'm ready to make my purchase. By the way, did the stove work with propane? I'm thinking of buying an IGT 2 unit to use on road trips.
@dickinaroundoutdoors86093 ай бұрын
@@enriquepadilla8826 It did work with propane but when used on the legs you need something to prop the propane bottle up slightly since the fuel hose is too short for the bottle to stand up. Have you seen our review of the IGT starter set which includes the flat burner. You can see it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/hH-onJ2dfbd4m8Usi=rvlrrSBUPw5EEfH1 and it might prove more economical if you are considering both items. There are links there as well.

@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 Thank you for the feedback. I will take a look at your review of the IGT. I'm thinking of buying a hose adapter from Camping Moon which has the ISO Butane on one end and a 1lb propane bottle connection on the other end. I spend 3 to 6 months traveling every year visiting family and visiting new places. It would be nice to be to cook a nice meal once in a while. I'm thinking of buying a 2 unit IGT and adding side tables to increase the work space. I've been looking at Snow Peak and Stanluck. Stanluck sells the 2 unit IGT and a sturdy bag. In 2022, I drove to Alaska after picking up and modding my Jeep. Although it was a great experience I realize I need to slim down my Jeep and add a few comfort items.
@dickinaroundoutdoors86093 ай бұрын
@@enriquepadilla8826 We have driven through Alaska as well in our JKU (actually did Tuk then over to AK and back on the Alaska Ferry - a whole bunch of videos on that). I don't know Stanluck at all, looks like some compatible with SnowPeak or knock offs but have used SnowPeak for many years and have never had any problems with them. Not saying anything negative on Stanluck, just have never seen one other than online.

Great review as always. I was curious about propane converter. Did you try it?
@dickinaroundoutdoors86095 ай бұрын
I need to do that when I am back in the US at the end of September.
@dickinaroundoutdoors86094 ай бұрын
I have been able to use a 1# propane bottle (my refillable bottle) with an adaptor and it seems to work fine with the stove so that is what I will normally be using going forward. One caveat is that the hose, when using the stove with the legs, not in the IGt, is not long enough for the bottle to sit upright so you will need something to set the bottle on so that it tilts upward thus avoiding flooding the hose with liquid fuel.
