Now my main preset. Clean is really great. This gets better every time you post a video. Your playing is off the chart. Very inspiring. Wish you 1M subscriber for 2023. You deserve it.

The Soldano crunch channel is my favorite amp model in the Helix, def recommend folks give that a try if you're struggling to get nice crunch tones. Underrated amp/channel/model for sure.

When I got my HX Stomp over 2 years ago, the Soldano Presets we're the first ones that heard that sounded great right out of the box for the cleans, crunchy, and cranked overdriven tones. It is the Amp that proved to me that the HX Stomp could sound absolutely amazing! It is easily one of my top 3 amps. I can always count on it to inspire my playing. The tones you dialed in sound undeniably awesome. 😎

I´m surprised how good the clean channel is, considering the Soldano is more famous for balls to the wall high-gain tones. And yes, EVH apparently used the SLO-100 on the F.U.C.K album, before working with Peavey. George Lynch also used it on the Wicked Sensation album and as mentioned Gary Moore ( the Live Blues album and Live in Montreux 1990, that´s all SLO-100) .

This is why the next Helix needs way more DSP. I would love to use all the Soldano models as a Channel 1, 2, 3 setup. What I'm going though is that future modeling just includes that. You have that "amp" with an the channels included instead of 3 different amps. I'm not worried about different setting cause Snapshots exist. Great video.

Knopfler predominantly used the Crunch feature (“channel”) on the SLO100, even for all his clean stuff and sometimes the lead ch for the higher gain songs (Eg. Heavy Fuel etc).

Hi, I don't know if this is possible on the hx stomp but I've recently learned about the Soldano x88r preamp. Its a preamp that was created when Bob Bradshaw contacted Mike Soldano to create a preamp for Steve Lukather. At the time Steve was using Mesa boogies for cleans, Marshalls for Crunch and Soldano for leads. Do you think you can get close to the soldano x88R preamp using snapshots. Thanks for inspiring all of us.

Awesome video as always! I have a question in regards to using the HX Stomp live. I've recently gotten an HX Stomp XL to use with a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170 for a backup "modeler pedalboard amp" through a 2x12 cab. Sounds amazing! Surprised how similar it sounds to my Revv G20 live setup I use from time to time. Only issue I'm noticing so far is when I get to higher volume levels it's causing my cab to rattle on bigger more palm-muted chords. Which has never happened before with my Revv G20 or my Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister 45. I go for a fairly similar sound with all my setups, and I feel my Helix presets are right on par with my tube heads as far as EQ parameters. Nothing outlandish and different compared to how I EQ my tube amps. Have you ever ran into this issue? Do I maybe have something I need to do with the settings on the HX Stomp for live use through a physical cab that I'm not aware of? I don't believe it's a very detrimental issue to my cab but I'm just curious if I could get some advice from the Helix Guru! All advice would be greatly appreciated. 🤟😁

Would it not be more correct/accurate, to state that the tone of THE SOLDANO AMP IS AMAZING and its replica/copy in the Helix is identical??? Awesome intro jam BTW & greetings from Down Under 🤟

This is only 1 of the many great amps Helix has modeled so well. The Slo 100 Head alone is $2000! To have all these awesome Amp tones and effects with multiple effects chain capabilities it's a no- brain decision in my book. Get the Helix for a fraction of the price and requires a fraction of the stage and storage space needed! Win win in my book! Definitely a worthwhile investment!

+++ Hi John, Mesaboogie stole the circuit from Mike Soldano. It is a clone+++ Proved by Mike itself, thats why i would never user a Mesa again....
@PerryCodes Жыл бұрын
Haven't amp makers been building upon others' circuits since the beginning of time? I love the shit out of my Rivera... and you don't see people saying, "Oh no! He took those circuits straight from a Fender and a Marshall!" Friedman amps? He wouldn't have a business if it weren't for the Marshall circuits he's taken and improved upon. Mesa has a lot of negatives - but their circuit ancestry shouldn't be one of them. Building on the shoulders of giants... Every industry known to man does it.
@Axman66 Жыл бұрын
@@PerryCodes yes, you are right, they all look what others are doing, but in that case it´s no try to lean on or "improve" it is just a cheaper copy... just my opinion. Mesa was so much bigger at that time..... But !!! most important is that the amps sound good...
@PerryCodes Жыл бұрын
And just saying "the circuit" is too broad in this context. It was only the preamp that is almost 1:1 between the SLO and Rectifier. The power sections are completely different. As is the overall sound. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone that says a Rectifier sounds anything like a SLO.
@PerryCodes Жыл бұрын
All that said... I would also never purchase a Mesa :D For those interested, I think it's Tone Talk Ep. 19 where Dave Friedman and Mike Soldano discuss this SLO business. It's definitely worth a listen.
