Honestly the sword in the stone not being Excalibur alone shows they did some research. That's something most people get wrong. Though they mostly just took the names and there own story. Considering there is no cannon King Arthur story it's not too far off most versions of the Arthur story. Who knows maybe in a few hundred years there might be people trying to figure out where the blue hedgehog in the King Arthur story came from.
