@Void7.4.143 ай бұрын
Agreed. I thought it was all pretty obvious actually lol The thing I find more interesting is the "why". What got them here. Cause there did seem to be some legitimate love in the beginning. Carm couldn't have been that materialistic from jump cause Tony wasn't even capable of providing like that back then, it was small time stuff. My guess is that Tony started with the affairs and it wore on Carmella and eventually they got so distant that they began seeking out what they were lacking in their relationship from others. Where Tony physically got around with minimal emotional attachment (beyond Carm and Melfi), Carmella emotionally got around with minimal physical action. They were both cheating just in their own way because they needed different things.

Hey, CineRanter. Been enjoying your videos for a pretty long time now. Thank you for those hours of quality entertainment. Have you ever thought about making a video about all those malapropisms and malaphors that Sopranos (as it turned out) crammed with. Funny how almost all of them went over my head when I was watching the show for the first couple of times. Except, of course, for the most prominent ones, like "Captain Tibbs" or "our mofo or whatever". But as Sun Tazu says: "Seek and you shall find". So the more times I was re-watching the more of those I started to pick up, words like "irregardless" or "invitro" started to pop out more and more and create a little dysentery in the ranks. And recently I stumbled upon that video. Chasms opened. As I said - it turned out that there are, I don't know, like at least couple of them in nearly every episode. It turned out that despite my english being pretty decent at least 60 percent of all those jokes and funny words are still going unnoticed if they weren't specifically shoved in my face. What are you gonna do - language (and also cultural) barrier. So (as a fellow slav) I though it might be an engaging topic for a video maybe?

Carmela and Tony’s relationship was one of the most authentic feeling parts of the show. The hypocrisy and turmoil they both perpetuated felt so real. You could see a loving relationship somewhere deep inside but also how Tony being the sole breadwinner and Carmela the nagging pampered wife created this toxic dynamic where neither wanted to give an inch of self reflection. Tony wanted a smart independent woman to converse with but he chose to have a relationship where he is in control of everything. Carmela wants genuine attention and being made to feel special, but she expects it to come completely from her lovers admiration for herself and from her actual accomplishments. Both failed to really think deeper into why they were unhappy in their relationship other than pointing fingers at their spouse. Funny thing is, none of the their relationship issues come from Tony’s mob life as we saw Carm basically accept it even though she tried to deny it.

Can’t say I agree with your take on the shower prank scene. Carmela is somewhat amused in a playful rant. But then she breaks the mood almost accidentally, saying that he promised he wouldn’t do that anymore and that it’s ’the one promise I’d like you to keep.’ As soon as she says it she seems almost embarrassed, and Tony just waves it off. IMO I think it speaks more to Tony bringing too little too late to the relationship. Trying to inject playfulness and happiness into a relationship he has done so much to ruin, that it rolls of her tongue so naturally at this point to reference his constant infidelities.
