Don't you think it's much better the nomenclature used in this anime than the one we're seeing in ttrpgs today? mages are magic, sorcerers (or alchemists) do sorceries. Everything magic related is connected to the faeries and to surpass the abilities of the body mages need to tap in from the magic of other creatures to do stuff, stuff that's not a reskinned arrow or flamethrower but actual reality-bending stuff.

Eh, but sorcerers pull from their own source. And what's referred to as mages in this are closer to what we'd consider druids as they do fae/fairy/first world/natural magic. Really 'mage' should be an umbrella term, with sorcerer, druid, wizard, etc underneath it

Damn, what a good scene. He says “All you do is conceal the truth” then a light breeze blows revealing he has no arm, granting immeasurable weight to his words. Absolutely fantastic. Edit: As of S2 we know he lost the arm to Joseph for little reason. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. I originally thought he lost the arm to a fairy, which is why he acts so cold to them and Elias in this scene. But no. S2 was weak.

We already knew in season 1 that he lost the arm to Joseph/Cartaphilus. He mentioned it multiple times and Joseph was shown with the arm.
