2022 Update: The "severed head" of Buzzy found/photographed is actual a head mold for the animatronic. This coupled with the hands and the "red" jacket comment implies what was stolen/recovered is from the old animatronic which was possibly in a kind of "workshop" area, somewhere behind the scenes. No sign of the real Buzzy has been confirmed.

Thanks for the update. I wonder if people have considered the possibility that someone did try to steal him, then dropped him and damaged him very badly when it went wrong for reasons Jenny covered. It would explain the severed cables and why he's disappeared because he'd be all smashed up from a 6ft fall and either the company would destroy the remains or the pieces are in a crate and they wouldn't want to show it. Sad, but seems like the simplest explanation to me

As someone who works on electronics… Doing mostly component level board repair for manufacturers and research labs type stuff… that big wad of cables and hoses that was cut… Things like that are really common in big industrial and complex machines. It’s their usually referred to as “umbilicals“. Also commonly known as harnesses, or wiring harness If something has been used for many years or seen constant use several days a week for a long period… Those things tend to start wearing and need to be replaced every now and then. The entire thing would just be hacked through the reciprocating saw or bolt cutters or whatever… That way you keep the small portion still attached to the machine so you have an example of what needs to be put together and how it all gets arranged. “Cord cutting“ is a really common thing when dealing with complex equipment. Because of it has been untested for a long time, it’s much safer to cut the cables and start over when you’re ready for doing the repairs at a later date… Then it is to leave everything hooked up, put it in storage for years, only to be pulled out years later by someone not as familiar with it. They go to plug everything back in and power it up without testing everything carefully first… and at the very least it could totally ruin the equipment, and at worst it can basically explode in your face and be very dangerous. So if somethings going to be removed and stored for a long period of time it’s so much more manageable liability just to snip everything. Because then to ever be powered up and tested again… A professional has to redo the wiring loom and check everything out before powering it back up. Which is not only safer for the technicians but also you don’t risk destroying a piece of history

An urban explorer is a person who comes onto a property to explore and document an area, without damaging or stealing from the property. If you are going into the property to tag it, take trophies, etc.; you're just a vandal/ thief. I'm sure the vandals and thieves like to be called urban explorers, but that does not make it so.

I believe you still can take things in certain contexts, though. Like if a mall is scheduled to be demolished and someone takes a sign that was going to be destroyed anyways. If something has historic value and isn't going to be rescued, that's just a waste.
@hazelbrown13325 жыл бұрын
@@pikalove8201 The Motto of an urban explorer is to 'Take only memories, leave only footprints' and only way I believe that an urban explorer could take an item is only if they have the permission of the said property's owner to remove the item off of the property which for most properties that are considered abandon - finding out the owner or even being able to locate the owner might not be possible since most times abandonment is due to the owner dying, etc. Other than that, there is no other way an urban explorer can take an item off of a piece of land without it being theft which means even if the item holds 'historic value', no one has the rights to remove the item even if the property is set to be demolished. And on another note - most properties set to be demolished are usually gutted and anything of value is taken out of the house, store, mall, etc to be reused or sold. Only time you will really find something that might have historic value is in a house, etc that might be decaying naturally but again, has to be left. Going by sample of an antique stove and a few other antique pieces that were found in an exploration done by TikiTrex within a collapsing house - most people wanted Tiki to save these items from eventually ending up in the basement of the house when the areas these items were at collapsed but cause house records in Canada aren't accessible, finding out whom owns the property isn't possible so which means sadly all those antiques are eventually going to end up destroyed when the house collapses cause pretty sure most salvaging companies won't touch, much less move an item without permission of the owner as well. Again, this might be a waste but sometimes there might be a reason why this item has been left or not been saved.

Or Jenny stole Buzzy. Think about it. In Porg.mp4 she shows that she has the ability to move something the size of Buzzy. She shows her hand in Top 10 Lame Things To Do At Disney World. She knows every inch of those parks. She probably knows those parks better than many of the employees. She explains exactly how she sneaked him out too. But she left out an import part: it's Jenny. If Jenny were walking out with her big headed son, no security guard is going to stop her, because they'd have to approach and talk to Jenny. No one want's to do that, so no one investigated her weird headed son. She could have even had help from a vendor. We know she loves Disney and theme parks, but why now? Why Buzzy? Because she could. She found a scapegoat. After BackDoorDisney stole his clothes, she saw her chance. Steal Buzzy right after his clothes were stolen and it causes confusion. People won't know what happened, plus Disney and police would suspect BackDoorDisney, or someone who follows him. Not someone who has had a fight with him on Twitter. This whole video is just here to throw us off her trail. It all fits together perfectly. Knowing Jenny, her big headed son is probably sitting behind the camera "operating" it.

So, just for everyone that found this video late and wanted an update: the Backdoor Disney guy did it. He was an old cast member which is how Disney found him so quickly. He was charged with stealing a bunch of things from the Haunted Mansion ride (goods valued at 7,000 dollars), he’s confirmed to have sold Buzzy’s clothes to an NBA player (lol) and most incriminating he posted pictures of Buzzy’s decapitated head on Twitter. Even with all of that, he avoided the charges of the theft of Buzzy (even though to me its pretty obvious he did it) and was only charged with the theft of the Haunted Mansion goods.

Former employee here who had access to the abandoned pavilion. Hi Jenny, in 2017 I was one of the performers at a food and wine festival event focused on Disney Springs Restaurants (I was a fiddle player at Raglan Road). It was held in this pavilion area. We had several rehearsals and played for the event itself so went in and out through the vendor entrance several times. We (my band of four and three dancers) drove in with our station wagon through the loading bay employee entrance and were not checked at all other than a quick question at one gate. We just said we were the band and were allowed straight through after the driver flashed only his Disney ID. We parked right behind the greenhouse from the Livin with the Land ride. There was total freedom for us to roam around through the backlots and staff areas. It would have been extremely easy for us to pack Buzzy or a large piece of equipment into our car and leave. There was hardly any security around that area, all the workers seemed to be inside the arena. As we drove out of the event (after the fireworks, around 11pm) through the staff exit, our car was not checked at all. There is definitely a possibility someone could steal him through the staff area. *for those wondering, I’m back in Ireland now, my band were on a 16 month residency at Raglan Road*

@radiobob1908 Жыл бұрын
If I had to guess, I'd say that someone tried and failed to steal Buzzy. Some kid thought they had a foolproof plan, cut the hydraulic lines, and then realized how stupid their plan was and left. Disney, seeing the chaos, moved the boy to a more secure location. However, as we have established, Buzzy is afraid of the dark. In his search for a nightlight, he got lost, and wandered the streets for days. Luckily, he's been adopted by some retirees named Ned and Linda. Their grandchildren live so far away, and Buzzy is such a nice young man, they don't even care how big his head is. He showed up on their doorstep one night, asking to borrow a nightlight. The guest bedroom still had a nightlight shaped like Mickey Mouse, even though Ned and Linda's grandchildren were too old for such things. The nightlight had the same ears as so many park guests that Buzzy had met on Cranium Command. He was so relieved to see something familiar, he immediately curled up and went to sleep. The first night, Linda was a bit skeptical. "He seems like a nice boy. I'm just not sure about him staying with us." "It's just one night," said Ned, "And he really is a nice young man." But it was never just going to be one night. Buzzy was polite, helpful, and an attentive listener. After a few weeks, even the cat loved Buzzy. Ned and Linda decided he was free to stay as long as he liked. Buzzy loves his new life. He loves Ned, Linda, and Mittens with all his heart. He might go back to Epcot for a visit someday, but he's very happy where he is.

As a mechanic, I frequently cut through things I know I won't use again, and I work on cars that are ostensibly designed to have these parts removed and replaced. I can totally see a Disney tech, stuck seven feet in the air monkeying with an animatronic that hasn't been used in years and probably never will be again, getting all the bolts out and deciding "You know what? To hell with it. If Disney ever uses this Boy again he'll need new hydraulics anyways." and just going to town with a pair of cutters. He probably would've gotten chewed out pretty thoroughly by the archive though.
@Gee-xb7rt5 жыл бұрын
Buzzy himself is pneumatic. the cherry picker arm he was perched on was hydraulic, and it was a lot easier to just cut him down. i know tech and disney, and this story has become such urban legend its crazy. they took buzzy down more as a safety precaution, they really don't know what to do about these youtube "explorers", as their policy is almost always just boot you from the park. they hardly ever call orange county, so when his clothes went missing it was a big deal, the only problem is they got it all wrong, Buzzy's hands have been missing for at least 5 years, they weren't taken by whoever took his clothes, the police report is a mess. there are no new clothes for Buzzy, and Disney is in a really awkward position, they aren't used to having to debunk urban legends, and to even talk about a theft is way outside of what Disney cast members are trained to do, theft is bad, anything bad you don't talk about. In short someone took Buzzy's hat and jacket, not his hands, and then Disney out of concern someone might crawl up there again took him down. Now Disney is in a really weird place, they don't want to admit someone stole something, its not the way they do pr, and because of that this urban legend has exploded.
@bunniesbunniesbunnie5 жыл бұрын
I think the one thing that ruins that for me is that if Disney removed it, they'd have turned off the fluid/pressure valve/clamp/some damn thing. BDD had the picture of fluid everywhere, it is undoubtedly cranium command, and it's a nightmare scene. That's not professional removal.

1 year late but here is my boring guess: -The guy who admitted to stealing and selling Buzzy's outfit originally thought he might be able to steal the full animatronic. After cutting the chords and finding himself sprayed with fluid, he was further deterred by discovering the full weight of the 300lb boy. The vandalism was later discovered by Disney and our precious boy was lovingly stored inside a crate just like at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Hi! An archivist here. Archives are set up so that when users need something (usually researchers or, in this case, the company) they can easily find them. Records and artifacts are processed and put into a searchable database and given a location, and then that item is put in that location. That way, when Disney has a 100-year anniversary of whatever, and they want to display something from the archive, they can look up the item in the system, find the location, and then retrieve it. You are right: an archivist wouldn't (or, at least, shouldn't) cut the hydraulics in that way. Not only is it dangerous, but the risk of getting the fluids onto the artifact would be too high. Easier and safer to just unplug. I am assuming, I've... never had to cut hydraulics, but based on the story, it sounds dangerous and messy. That said, corporate archives don't always do everything by the book. Archives can sometimes be undervalued in big corporations, because they're not making money for the company - I can't speak for Disney's specific stance on it. It's possible poor Buzzy could be sitting in the archive backlog waiting to be processed behind hundreds of other items and has gotten lost in the weeds. It's hard to find something not in the system. THAT SAID, you'd think if they had it, they'd want to clear up this Missing Buzzy controversy quickly, and if they know it just arrived, at least one of the archivists would have probably remembered where they put such a large and memorable item. Information like "had it's original clothes and hands stolen" would 100% be documented in its item condition, even if they were replaced... at least, if I was doing it, and I might have let the item skip the line just so I could remember details like that. One thing you mentioned caught my ear, though: water damage. If they examined Buzzy and determined that it couldn't run, that wouldn't have been a big deal. If they examined Buzzy and found water damage and mold? That's a liability to the archive. It can't go in with other items because the mold spores might spread to other artifacts or records. Disney could have decided it wasn't worth it to send it off to attempt conservation, and chosen to deaccession it instead.
@nateschultz89735 жыл бұрын
Hydraulic fluid degrades with use. Designers must assume that leaks are possible, as well. There is a filling port of some sort in that hydraulic circuit, all but certainly. Draining is possible, regardless. That said: If someone was under the impression that the hydraulics were *already* drained it *could* make some sense to cut lines. A lot of lines are welded/braised/otherwise fused permanently to form the hydraulic circuit. Unwelding is often more difficult than cutting. This is true for breakdowns of electrical circuits as well. Seen it many times; When there is a weird port and jack pair involved, you can cut behind the set so only one side needs the reintegration. (Don't know enough about this specific design to say if that's plausible or not, here, obviously.) It occurs to me that the puddle may well be the result of draining the system before the cutting. Is there any evidence that the fluid came out of the cut lines?
@themysteriousplutonian79555 жыл бұрын
Do you know if they would have cut rather than disconnect the hydraulic systems if they had chosen to deaccession it?

MY THEORY: Urban explorer tries to take our boy, cuts his cords, and takes him down from the hydraulic arm - but quickly realizes that he's too heavy to get out of the park. Takes his clothes and hands and leaves. Disney employees find our boy lying on the cold hard ground and take him away (to throw him out, probably), and file a police report for the missing parts. Our boy cries hydraulic fluid at the loss of his hands. Disney makes him a new robot hand. Now our boy is stronger than ever, and with the power of the Force on his side, nothing can stop him

I know this video is a year old but I’ve watched it so many times and I think I’ve finally come to a conclusion. I think this urban explorer that the police investigated went in PLANNING to steal buzzy, not thinking through the logistics of carrying a 300 pound boy out of a Disney theme park. He cut the hydraulic lines and then realize Buzzy was not actually an easily movable creature. Harried by the morbid thrill of his crimes and irritated by Buzzy’s stubbornness, the trespasser stole his clothes and his hands. He couldn’t take Buzzy, but he could take his dignity. Since there were Imagineers coming in and out regularly, one of them likely saw Buzzy, cold and dismembered, hydraulic fluid splattering his innocent sullied corpse, and arranged to have him removed before any further damage could be done; perhaps to be repaired and put safely into the archive. A gruesome story, but with a happy end.
@ByzantineDarkwraith2 жыл бұрын
Everyone says this, and I'm inclined to agree, but what about Buzzy's new clothes, that according to Jenny, appeared right after the Backdoor Disney incident supposedly happened? Buzzy didn't seem to be damaged when he got his new clothes... Were the old clothes or the new clothes stolen? Or both?? We have pictures of him with his new clothes, right?... Did BD strike again after that, and fail to steal him, but take his hands or something? (And maybe the cops only came after BD after both incidents?) The whole timeline is weird... We supposedly have pics from after his clothes were stolen, but BD was said to have stolen the clothes and the hands (some even claim the head...) Disney wouldn't make new hands for Buzzy, would they? And he's not missing his hands in the new clothes pics, right? That kind of supports a theory that BD struck multiple times, what do you think?

Jenny has Buzzy, and here's how she did it: She befriended several of the vendors, which also made it possible for her to move around the building without arousing suspicion. They then went into the ride. Jenny, because of her years working at a theme park and her extensive knowledge obviously knew about the service lift and how to operate it. She and her accomplices were able to move Buzzy together, even though it was hard (she hints at this when she guesses his weight in the video). So, why did they not unplug him properly? It is possible that they just did not know how to do it... or they wanted to spread confusion. She mentions serveral times in this video, that the circumstances of the crime were contradictory. Maybe purposefully so. Then they got him out of the park in exactly the way Jenny described. Nobody thought to stop her, because of her startling resemblance to the animatronic. But wait there's more. So how did all of this come to be? It all started when the archives tag was dicovered on Buzzy. Jenny, who had followed the story for a while knew that this would mean Buzzy would disappear for a long time. She had to do something. Just stealing it seemed to risky, she needed a scapegoat. That's when BackDoorDisney entered the plan. Jenny, who had resented him for a while because of his vandalism and trophy hunting anonymously contacted him, posing as a rich collector. She offered him a large sum of money for Buzzy's easily removable parts: his hands and his clothes. After he stole them, Jenny just waited until Buzzy was restorated, making him beautiful again. She was ready to strike. At this point she stole Buzzy and everything came into place: she now owns a vintage animatronic and BackDoorDisney got all of the police attention (and had to suffer a bit in the process, just like Jenny planned). But this still was not everything. There is an ultimate goal. The disappearance of Buzzy brought Cranium Command more publicity than it ever had before. So, maybe in a few years Jenny will "buy Buzzy in a Thrift Store from a guy who did not know what he was" and very publicly return him to Disney. So much attention for Cranium Command. Possibly even.... enough to rebuild the ride in Tomorrowland! This is the ultimate goal: Reopen Cranium Command and get her big headed son back in the game! Well done, Jenny! But even a masterful thief can't help bragging... or should I say: publishing a half-hour video on her crime?

Given that Jenny's distance from the camera never ever changes no matter which of her videos you watch, it was incredibly startling to see her suddenly rapidly approaching the lens. It's like seeing a spider sit in the exact same spot on the wall for two hours and then you glance over and it's suddenly moving at human walking speed.

I wonder if the clothes that were stolen of Buzzy's weren't actually taken off the animatronic figure, and they actually were the old clothes with the red jacket that never got used in the show. It would then make more sense how the urban explorer was able to get to them (since they weren't seven feet up in the air strapped to a mechanical doll). It's possible that they were kept somewhere backstage even further than most of these explorers were going, since we know that BackdoorDisney was a previous employee and clearly managed to get backstage in more areas than just this one, given the other things he had stolen.

Disney would never cut his cords like that. They take apart their things carefully and the right way. I've seen that this was definitely an inside job. It had to be a group of cast members who planned this out, who were able to get past multiple gates and had to have a group remove him. It couldn't be a guest because this animatronic is, like you said 300 pounds. If you put that boi in a baby cart, He would shoot through the bottom of the stroller. Sorry buzzy no weight shame.

If the building had a moisture problem it's possible the fittings on hydraulic lines connecting Buzzy to the rest of the system may have rusted solid. That would make cutting the lines the easiest option to get him down. You'd think a technician would purge the lines before doing it though.
@minerva98435 жыл бұрын
Unless they thought the animatronic has been left untouched for half a decade. Then again. If Buzzy had new fluid and clothes there's a good chance that fittings would have been replaced too

Theory 4: Disney WAS planning to bring back the attraction and repainted him and fixed him up. Meanwhile and unrelated, thieves realized they can steal Buzzy and make bank. So they broke in and tried to take him off his pedestal, except things went horribly wrong. Buzzy is far heavier than they were expecting and because they’d tested Buzzy, the fluid was new and sprayed all over the thieves and Buzzy. Realizing there is no way they can take a fluid soaked quarter ton animatronic out, they take whatever they can: namely the removable clothes and his rubber hands. Disney security finds a naked and handless Buzzy lying in a pool of his own fluids and can’t leave him there to be photographed by urban explorers so they put what’s left of him into the archives. After which, they probably check some Disney selling site and find the bits of our boy being auctioned off to the highest bidder. They call Maximus and the human from Bonkers and the rest follows the police report. They weren’t looking for all of Buzzy because the majority of Buzzy was left in his abandoned crypt. Side Note: This is very similar to what the devout religious types did with relics. You can’t take the whole body so you steal a finger.

This seems extraordinary likely, since it explains the following: 1) why the police report was for a red jacket, instead of the brown. 2) why they took that opportunity to report it, rather than any of the other thefts; there was heavy and irreparable damage to a valuable park piece.

I don’t know if you’ll see this Jenny, but back in January I was at Epcot and I was pin trading with a cast member and he was doing a trivia question and asked which animatronic in the W.o.L. Pavilion was recently in the news and why and after I said Buzzy was stolen he corrected me saying that actually he was removed by Disney but they didn’t let the cast members at the park know? So when a CM went back there they saw he was gone and called the police which is when the news broke on twitter. He said it was partly because people kept sneaking back there to see him. Idk if the story is true but its what the CM had told me. Looking at the police report about the clothes makes me question this story but I thought it would be interesting to share :)
@Gee-xb7rt5 жыл бұрын
Disney trains its employees to not talk about anything bad, and theft is bad. I know people that work there in tech, and the real poop is his hat and jacket were stolen, they cut Buzzy down because they were concerned about other people crawling up there. The arm he sat on is hydraulic, he is pneumatic, like the birds in Tiki Room, you don't want hydraulics leaking on your guests. Disney's policy is generally just to kick people out of the park if the commit crimes, they usually don't file police reports because they usually don't call the police, they just escort you to the front gate and watch you leave. The police report is a mess, his hands have been missing for at least 5 years, you can double check this with a google image search.

Know what would be the perfect crime? Paying someone to steal the clothes and hands of an animatronic, turning that person in to the Disney PD to claim the reward for any information regarding the theft, using said reward money to pay someone to steal the rest of the animatronic and then making an in depth KZbin video about the mystery behind its disappearance.
