Moved from L.A. to Florida. Wages forced me into having my own business. I bought all his books, studied them and put a $10 ad in the paper. Cleaned homes for a year using these methods. Then moved towards resort , island rentals and tourist trade rentals. Became the largest and no 1 rated cleaning business here . With over 80 employees I was exhausted and sold it 7 yrs later. Belated thanks 😊 for the money made (it’s as easy to clean for the wealthy and they appreciate the extra mile , too ❤️)

Michael Frietsch Yes! Do MORE than expected. Organize things , color code, go over the top with a great job well done. Get cleaned places others might over look. If it’s a home, don’t forget inside the frig, inside a medicine cabinet, inside the closets...make every job spectacular. Work for higher end clients (people with 💰 money & blow them away with your special touch). Be respectful of everything. Know how to make their bed how THEY like it. God is in the details, as they say. I had clients once who read newspapers daily...when I’d go there I’d always have to wipe their kitchen cabinets from news print. I also had to organize their utility drawer in the kitchen. Their balcony was open and I cleaned it entirely like a separate living space every time. Be methodical, wear the holster/belt, have plenty of supplies and keep all your tools in great clean shape. Read the books. In the beginning I timed myself after I got good at the cleaning method ...people with children are more to clean. Word of mouth can be great or not. You want to stay in charge and avoid gossip. My clients wanted to be friends (after all, when cleaning a home you know things about them). I decided never to be social friends. It just wasn’t going to be cool. I knew TOO much. After a time, I got contracts with realtors who rented luxury units on the beaches . These turned into major money 💰 for me. I had to hire a lot of people, train and run the business. It was 24/7 for nearly 7 years. No days off. But I learned to delegate . Had an administrator, 2 field managers and some star quality people . Easier to clean when people have checked out, before new ones check in...no one is there so you can really get in there and clean righteously. How’d I come to clean? I had a romantic broken heart 💔. I didn’t want to talk to people. Put an ad in a throw away type newspaper and to my surprise someone called. When they asked how much I charged I said, “Whatever you think is fair. If you don’t like it, don’t pay .” Haha...yeah, well I found out what to charge by calling to see what other people charged, who they might cater to , what they did, etc. Then I visited other companies and offered to help clean a place if they got into a jam and asked if they’d do the same for me. Became friends with the nice ones. Joined a couple chamber of commerces. Got voted to serve a 4 yr term on the Board of Directors of one ☝🏼 of them. Carried cards with me, went to certain functions , etc. Smiled a LOT and stayed positive. Physically cleaned for one year. Enough to be effective, know what a “deep clean” is and learn the ropes first hand. Then I had to hire hire hire...wanted it to be an employee owned business. But I was voted down. Paid my people more than anyone else . Always gave bonus money 💰 and wrote that specifically on their checks for going “above & beyond “ the call of duty. Employees deserve half the money. Then I had to buy supplies (rentals require placing new soaps in wrappers, can liners, laundry detergents, etc) and THEN what was left was mine. In the end, I had so many to clean every week I had a carpenter build out a room with shelving on 3 sides to hold supplies, put keys 🔑 on marked pegs, organize so much, etc. Hope this helps someone. Oh...and I had a great accountant who gave me quarterly reports . I always knew I’d sell one day (who wants to permanently work 7 days a week?). Never sell to a broker, let an attorney handle it instead, by the way. Dream BIG but start small. When I started I worked for people who didn’t have much. Sometimes I didn’t charge them at all saying it was “on the house”. I HAD to go for wealthy to feel right...and it was a healthier atmosphere to heal my broken heart 💔 as it turned out. Did some businesses but that a whole other thang entirely. New construction in Florida is brutal (but pays more). I like air conditioning and nice views myself.

Did any of your clients dislike the idea of new people coming in to clean? My Mom has been running a very small cleaning business for 25 years, I started working with her ten years ago, and now we're at a point where we're turning down work that we don't have time to do. I'd love to hire a couple of people, and expand, but my Mom is so worried about being able to trust people in our clients homes that she doesn't want to hire anyone. How did your customers react when you introduced new people?
@takingafatdump
@takingafatdump 3 жыл бұрын
@@b.mcknight8686 100% hire as many people as you need. you never want to be turning down a job. that’s just bad for business. train them and have them clean with someone experienced for about a week then let them loose, or use teams of 2 or 3 and have 2 newer employees and one experienced one. this way if you need to expand your people you can just hire extra help to make things faster, and do more clients per day, instead of having brand new employees clean on their own.

Use microfiber clothes for your upcoming business to save you money and time. I’ve been in business for 15years, do your homework on supplies that are in concentration form to save more money. Janitorial stores have great tools like pumie products that when used correctly can save time as well. Good luck and don’t give up because this is a lucrative industry!

maid stat thanks so much for your advice. I’ve gotten my setup for each cleaner down to $900. The cart, commercial vacc, mops, dusters, micro fibers, and supplies. Is there a specific cart you recommend?
@maidstat3400
@maidstat3400 3 жыл бұрын
That comes down to cost? Some are amazing but also expensive. Look for reviews that praise the sturdiest ones that meet the requirements for that specific account you plan on using it for like size of the space for storage and quantity of supplies kept on the cart. Sometimes a trash can with a cart apron will suffice and other accounts may need more supplies so a large unit with or without a locked supply compartment may be necessary. Buying from amazon or manufacturer can save money vs. the janitorial supply stores.

I started cleaning my house this way. I tried using an apron, but everything fell out when I bent over. I finally got a little cart with wheels. I put the caddy on top of the cart and pull it around with me. I cannot believe how easy it is when you don’t have to bend down to get this or that from the candy. It’s super fast to clean this way. Fun. Easy. I think what I hated about cleaning is how tired I was afterwards. That does not happen any more cleaning this way. Oh, I did get the right tools. I don’t use their products. I use Blueland products that are nontoxic and environmentally friendly. So grateful for this video. It’s totally changed my cleaning life.

@@dallastvmemories I did a search for a cart with wheels. Found one on Amazon. You know how maids in motels have carts and custodians have carts? Well, those are really big and good for what they do. But for cleaning the house, I was looking for something small where I could place the caddy on top. And there are 2 shelves below for cleaning cloths, etc. So, I’d say, assess what cleaning stuff you use when you clean and find something that fits. And, of course, with wheels so you can pull it wherever you go.

Natalie Hodgkinson floors are always last. It’s a gravity thing, His method calls for this to be last. Get the loose debris first...vacuum or sweep 🧹. Then tile floors on hands and knees (you can see better.) I used Murphy’s Oil Soap (mixed as directed) on an upright type tool for wood floors. It cleans and smell divine afterward. Vacuuming while backing out of a room is best (when everything else is done and no recently will be needed). This way you can even make beautiful attractive vacuum designs showing it’s been done ✅ professionally.

Ziggy3339 Thank you. Yes I know floors are always last but if I remember rightly they didn’t vacuum or sweep in the video before just going to mopping the floors. I always vacuum (and mop) my way out of a room and love creating patterns when vacuuming too 😊 I love the carpets looking beautiful fluffed when clients get home. the hardwood floor that gets sprayed at the end - "You aren't going to hurt it" is a prefinished white floor (rare nowadays) and any chemicals that get on one of those floors need to be neutralized. I'm betting the red solution is something highly alkaline, so it would need to be neutralized with an acidic solution and then rinsed again with clear water to keep the cleaning solution from eating into the floor over time.

I love the basic ideas taught in this video, although I'm wondering about improvements in the methods sonce this was made. In the updated video, are there any changes that address safety equipment like gloves, and avoiding cross contamintion? I'm pretty grossed out that the same toothbrush tool gets used on all the fixtures and the toilet, and unless you carry more than one set of tools the same brush is being used on kitchen sinks and appliances. What about using these tools as a pro cleaner in more than one house?

Top to bottom, left to right, making your way out of the room. It's the cleaning rule 101. And yes! The apron to hold tools is the most valuable tool of them all. Saves hours of work! I figured out myself after trial and error though. I wish I knew about this video before. Note: to all of you saying cross contamination, there is no such thing. When you spray, leave the cleaner for 5 minutes, which is the norm, by the time you are scrubing the bacteria and viruses are already killed, I mean, that's the purpose of bathroom cleaners 😂😂, plus no one said you can only have one brush, he probably has multiple brushes, I have 7 different brushes for different surfaces and rooms, all different colors. My kitchen ones are yellow, my bathroom brushes blue. Color coding is essential in house cleaning services.

I learned some good tips from this, but some things, I just don't see how it's better, like cleaning the inside of the toilet bowl before the outside. In the homes that I clean, some people's toilets are absolutely disgusting on the outside, I wipe that first.
@ziggy33399
@ziggy33399 4 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Y in his book 📖 (way back when) he didn’t clean the inside of a toilet bowl first. Starting at the top with a clean rag, wipe with green juice (disinfectant) and go top, then down each side cleaning everything. Lift the lid after cleaning the top of it. NOW, clean the underside of the lid. Then around the bowl. The water inside the bowl remember, is the SAME water that comes out of the sink...rinse your rag as needed and refresh your disinfectant and clean down the outside of the rest of the bowls outsides. Lastly, clean back under the rim throughly, and the inside to get off any stains that might have formed. Flush as you go along if you want to keep things nice for yourself. After I’m done ✅ I can throw that rag outside the bathroom door onto a rag (or cotton square shaped diaper I’ve laced flat for used rags) and move towards cleaning the back walls and floors around the toilet. When I’m done I give a final flush. Before I leave the bathroom 🚽 I always put down the toilet bowl lid.
