They need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But when Philippe Wynn left the group they went down. They have enough hits to be in the Hall of Fame. Spinners for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!
@bpabustan5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you that The Spinners should be in the rock and hall hall of fame but I am curious. Many fans and critics think Philippe Wynn Walker is the most important member of the group whilst most of the hits has Robert Smith on lead vocals....maybe I'm wrong but this opinion is pretty hard to justify.
@BilliardsLover5 жыл бұрын
I agree, but to be clear, he didn't leave the group by choice: he died... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipp%C3%A9_Wynne

@@bpabustan No...you're RIGHT. BOBBY SMITH was ALWAYS the MEAN LEAD of THE SPINNERS from the VERY BEGINNING....long before PHILLIPPE WYNNE was ever even HEARD OF !!!
@williamg25525 жыл бұрын
@@BilliardsLover No...he left the group long BEFORE he died...and was replaced by JOHN EDWARDS , who led on CUPID and WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU. Wynne was the DAVID RUFFIN of the group. He thought that The Spinners revolved around HIM...and his EGO and his drug use was a constant problem. He caused dissension between himself and the other group members ....and with their producer, Thom Bell. He wanted TOP BILLING....and when he didn't get it...he split. Bobby, Pervis, Billy, and Henry breathed a sigh of RELIEF when he was finally GONE....and HE was never the MAIN LEAD ANYWAY....BOBBY SMITH was.
@williamg25525 жыл бұрын
BOBBY SMITH was ALWAYS the MAIN LEAD of THE SPINNERS from the very beginning...over a decade BEFORE Wynne even GOT THERE. BOBBY sang lead on the Spinners' very first hit, "That's What Girls Are Made For" way back in 1961. He sang lead on 95% of their material on Motown...including the hit singles TRULY YOURS and I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU...and again, it was BOBBY who led on The Spinners' biggest Atlantic hits..including the group's FIRST MILLION SELLER, 'I'LL BE AROUND", their SECOND million seller, COULD IT BE I'M FALLING IN LOVE, their FOURTH million seller, THEN CAME YOU (with Dionne Warwick, and their FIFTH million seller, GAMES PEOPLE PLAY . Look at the videos for these songs on youtube and see who's singing lead....IT AIN'T PHILLIPPE. In fact , of the SEVEN million-selling hit singles THE SPINNERS recorded for Atlantic, FOUR of them were led by BOBBY. WYNNE only led on TWO: ONE OF A KIND and RUBBERBAND MAN...and JOHN EDWARDS led on ONE , WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU. So....what's the BIG DEAL about WYNNE? BOBBY SMITH was the one selling all of the RECORDS !!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Smith_(rhythm_and_blues_singer)

EVERYONE of their HUGE hits were and STILL ARE so memorable!!!! How many groups can claim such a TREMENDOUS feat!!!! A truly LEGENDARY group that DOES need MORE recognition!!!! I feel very proud and grateful to say I saw them 4 times in my lifetime!!! (I'm 67) and own their very sought after live DVD performance..... A big THANK YOU to ALL the Spinners who have left us - for giving the world such wonderful hits and performances!!!! May you rest in ever loving peace in soul music history, forever.

Oppression happened. Or, it was imported from Nazi Germany into every city in America. In an effort to survive ostracism and the ghettos young black men and women began to express themselves by verbally describing what was happening to them. And is still happening as evidenced by George Floyd getting choked to death in broad daylight. If people like you would have listened to gang banger and MOVIE PRODUCER ICE CUBE or gang banger and BILLIONAIRE Dr. Dre maybe you would stop writing ignorance and do something about the actual problem. Edit: Not casting blame but you really should step back and sniff under your underarms.

Now city murder rates are back to 1992 levels (the great crack wars) cuz cops let every thing slide. Don't believe the media or democrat school victim indoctrination and hate.
