Lol. Depends on too many factors. 1) Either one of the marks arriving by car, and being willing to drive a stranger around town. (Not me! Who says the stranger isn't involved in some shady shit like drugs or stolen goods?) 2) The marks being stupid enough to pay for both Ipads at the same time. (My reaction - you turn up with the Ipads, and I'd give you the cash...) 3) Having the mark panic and not take the Ipad that he bought. 4) The mark having a cell phone and being willing to let someone else use it - or being dumb enough not to check the text that the guy sent...

This is why a wise person does not purchase an expensive item from anyone other than a legitimate manufacturer or retailer. You would need two friends to show with cash, then when you use the first guys phone to send the fake text to the second guy,and then give the phone back , what happens when the second guy sends back a reply to the text? Now the first guy see the fake text and you are still there???
