Burundi's crisis deepens following last week’s reported clashes between an unidentified rebel group and the Burundi Defense Force in the northwestern region of Burundi. The Burundian military killed over 30 militants and captured 170, according to the army's spokesman. While the presidential vote is still scheduled for July 21, it appears President Pierre Nkurunziza now faces an apparent armed rebellion.
VICE News attended the Burundian army's press conference in the Cibitoke province, where the military showed off the weapons seized after the conflict, as well as their captives, alleged to be the rebels responsible for attacking the Burundian military.

One problem with such a situation is that even if the soldiers don't retaliate against the reporter for digging too deep or asking too many questions, they can still hurt the rebels/captives/civilians/whatever who where being asked the question. Vice might have tried to see how detailed the captives' answers where, and thereby try to verify what they had been told, but given the answers that they had already been given and the risk of retaliation to either party, it was better to stay away. Reporters should avoid risking harm to the people they interview.

Kvin Cast What evidence? I'm pretty sure a western country like America wouldn't want a dictatorship regime in any country. Thats one of the main reasons why people like me living in western countries hate Putin and feel sorry for those people who believe him and the propaganda form the media that he controls. I'm not saying there is no propaganda in other countries I'm just saying in western countries like the UK, its the government very rarely releasing propaganda information and the news and media using them rather then getting forced to show propaganda but in that case there are many other news and media companies that are against the source.

Ryan Snow You're the reason why news is so sensationalized. So what if it's boring? It's the real stuff. Go watch some action movie or fox news, both equally hype stuff to the point of bull.

Not the best reporter, we would have like it if you had interviewed them anyways. you were there, it would of taken 10 mins. But you just left, even if you think its make isn't your audience worthy of hearing the story anyways? im disappointed.

+VICE News That tells you everything right there. Their military has been trained and paid for by the Americans. Kind of like the Israel Defense Force and the Guatemalan Defense Force. It was the IDF who instructed the GDF to commit genocide against the Mayan Indians . They are still digging up mass graves.

Arnold Layne They probably don't have their correspondent there anymore. I know about a week or two ago they posted a video of Ukrainians testing a commercial drone with a homemade bomb.

codmohgwbf Yeah I saw that one. Looks like the fighting has calmed down a bit lately too or they've been told to stop reporting/paid off, who knows?

Arnold Layne Well, pro Russian forces have moved all of their armor out of the front lines and Ukraine has agreed to not retake more land so a true cease fire is actually in effect.

codmohgwbf Ah right, haven't been following it closely tbh but thats good news. Just goes to show futility of war, so many being killed one minute, the next minute your boss says stop shooting, insane.

DoGTripwire lol, there was no such thing. USSR spent all resources to military needs, there was more than enough weaponry in there.
@fuckoffannoyingutube
@fuckoffannoyingutube 9 жыл бұрын
Nope nope it actually was a common thing during the siege of Stalingrad. two Soviet soldiers would receive ammo for two but only one gun. The idea was to either supply the shooter with ammo or to pick up his gun should he fall during the attack. there were many points when supplies (weapons and food) did not move as fast as the mobilized population. mind you. it was not a common Soviet tactic though

I know you are a reporter and not Sherlock Holmes, but you couldn't even ask names? At least then you could find out who they were. It could be important later if they are killed, known locally, have a social media profile, etc. cause jesus that was bad. Another question: what about spent shell casings? If there was a battle with guns you'd figure there'd be some.. Keep the videos coming, I'm interested to see what unfolds!

haha only 6 soldiers injured and not a single killed, but they managed to kill 31 rebels and capture 170. Knowing how well trained african armies usually are, i find that really hard to believe. Also that 1 civilian killed and another injured are probably villagers that weren't willing to cooperate
