The Starighters were among the best vocal groups of their time -- worthy successors to the by then June Hutton-led Pied Pipers in backing the great Jo Stafford.

Thanks for your comment. The Startlighters were indeed among the very best of the 40's vocal groups. You might know that when the group first started in 1946, young Andy Williams was a member.

@@sandaglad Not quite correct. Andy joined sometime during 1946 (date not yet known) replacing original member Bob Prather, who later performed under the name of "Bob Craig." Andy was in turn replaced by Jerry Duane c. late February or early March 1947. 🙂

Sounds like the group singing "Kiss" from 1953's "Niagara"

It's likely you're correct. According to the American Film Institute's online catalog, an item in "Hollywood Reporter" in July 1952 said that The Starlighters were to be the group heard on "Kiss." However, their participation in the complete picture has not been confirmed. As a discographer of the Starlighters, I have to say it certainly sounds like them. It should be pointed out, though, that by the time "Kiss" was recorded for the soundtrack of "Niagara" (c. mid-1952), the girl singer in the group was Imogene Clark, better known as 1940s big band singer Imogene Lynn. Pauline Byrns left the Starlighters c. January 1950.

@adriandaff5369 I also saw they sang the intro song to the film "Honeychile".

@@jakej.5996 That's also correct. They sang the title song over the opening credits and are then seen on-screen continuing the song in a "recording studio." Although the movie was produced c. Oct-Nov 1950, it wasn't released till Oct 1951.
