I had a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta as a company demo when I worked for the Hollywood Chevrolet dealership on Sunset Boulevard. It was the same periwinkle blue color as Bill's, but it had the T-tops and the 2.8 liter V-6.. It wasn't that fast, but it was fast enough, and that interior was totally cool.. I was surprised to see that from General Motors. The Berlinetta was so unlike the run of the mill standard Camaros and Z-28s, it had a European sensibility about it. That turn signal switch on the pod took some getting used to, but I grew to prefer it over the traditional stalk, and it was positioned in a way that allowed thd driver to catch the turn signal switch while preparing to turn the steering wheel.. I REALLY liked that car a lot. It was special.

Amazingly enough, GM designers had some imagination back then, at least for this model. It seems the control pods had been inspired by, if not almost entirely lifted from, the Citroen CX. I don't think any other car on the market had anything similar. I remember when these were new in 1984. Every young person wanted one. Today, this car is far more impressive than at the time.

You should do Stand-Up Comedy! You definitely know your cars. A lot of cars guy go into car sales, and since they can never afford the very cars they sell, it crushes their souls. A sense of humor helps. I was 18 when this car came out, it was a "waitress" car. The "car" 305 had oil passage problems, so they did not last long(80K miles). These were built on the same old platform as the 70's Nova/Malibu, with the same sub-frame puck-mounts that slopped out fairly soon, and they rattled and dog-tailed. Yes it had Mcpherson struts in the front, and coils in the back, but it was a retro fit to the old platform. These had Bose speaker systems that failed early, and expensively. Sooner or later, the sun would checker the plastic sandwich laminate in the rear hatch glass, so you could not see out at night. Then as it deteriorated more, the whole thing would shatter. Good luck on finding a replacement. Keep that out of the Sun! P.S.; That bag on the ceiling was for your Vuarnet Chick-Sunglasses, which hid your zombied-out eyes from all the Coke.

Nice video. When I was in high school lots of students had this generation Camaro but always with the 4 or 6 cylinder. My friend in auto shop class had an '82 Berlinetta with the 2.8 V6 and 5 speed. I worked as a grocery bagger back then and I remember these Camaros were always a pain to fit grocery bags into. That little "cubby" was pretty small and the rest of the hatch area was just too shallow. All of the coke references crack me up. I was a kid and teenager in the 80s in a small town.
