I was thinking the exact same thing. Camaro from 1984 and Van Halen's album 1984. I was thinking at the beginning that Panama would be the perfect song for this video and a little while later it came on the radio. Also the year I was born.

I had a relative with one back in the 80's. I rode in it a few times. All I remember was the swivel radio. I was just a teenager, I wish I had been more aware that I should take note of more things and savor the time because things would be so much different in 30 years. I guess that's a problem with all teens, even now.

Nice looking Camaro, third gens IMO are some of the best looking cars bang for the buck. I have a pretty clean 84 Z28 L69 with T-tops that I've had since 2013, it's been a pleasure owning it. When these cars first came out performance was without a doubt on an upswing. I remember reading articles in car magazines, the writers finally had something exciting to talk about performance wise. Since then it's been getting better & better.

Amazingly enough, GM designers had some imagination back then, at least for this model. It seems the control pods had been inspired by, if not almost entirely lifted from, the Citroen CX. I don't think any other car on the market had anything similar. I remember when these were new in 1984. Every young person wanted one. Today, this car is far more impressive than at the time.

They re-cycled that steering wheel for all the 1990 Chevy Trucks. NO, his is not leather-wrapped.

As a camaro fan when you popped the hatch the first thing I thought of was how clean it it, a min later you commented that anyone knowing f bodies would agree and I do, no just need the wife to understand why it’d be a good idea to buy another car, I won’t hold my breath great video and thanks for the laughs when everyone needs it right now

I never realized how cool these things looked. My sister had a z28 but it had those ground effects. This one is much more pure.

I believe the base Camaro had the 3 slots as a “grill” as well.

Very true, bought a new 84 base Camaro back then and it had the three slots. I put some blue lights behind two of them and my wife got a ticket for the them!

Holy crap. A friend of mine in high school (around '98-'99) had one of these in an '85. None of us had ever heard of one, so the uniqueness made it kind of cool.

I love these 3rd gen Camaro's and Firebird's, they're certainly easier to live with than a 2nd gen. They did offer the Iron Duke in this gen, not sure about these. This whole car is cool, I'd drive this.

JohnnyTyrone77 It’s just that four-cylinder, didn’t really have any power, of course, I don’t think any of the lower engine choices really did, due to omissions.

@@thevacdude Exactly! It was interesting to hear a Camaro start-up with the 4cyl engine..If i remember correctly the 4cyl was also an option on the base Firebird as well.I was working in a gas station in summer of 83 straight out of high school and a lady would come by to gas up on Fridays and when she started it up you could tell it was a 4cyl.
