You need to rent some stackable trench boxes. Much safer and it will save a ton of over excavation. just keep digging on the inside of the box and pushing it down.

Hey Chris, spent my first day ever running a mini excavator (Kubota U25). Just wanted to say thanks so much for your videos! I learnt an absolute ton from watching that helped me be confident and effective (for a ham-fisted amateur).

I like the way you get a bucket and a half with each scoop by leveling out your bucket. That’s got to be the most efficient use of your machine. Great demonstration.

Dip and pour! Lol. That last pipe digging and looking, only if your lucky you'll probably end up digging a lot of holes and would most likely be the best to just hog the whole thing out and replace it. Can't tell you how many holes we dug on rickwell looking for a leak and how many hours wasted. It was high pressure hot water system and had two pipes inside of a big pipe with insulation. Would dig to pipe, cut a hole in the outer and dig out insulation and listen and hope to hear water spraying. Was about 200 yards between manholes and found out just quicker and cheaper to replace from manhole to manhole. This video brought back memories. Lol

'Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.' I think there has been something in those pipes besides storm runoff. I bet someone at the business knows what, besides water, has been in those pipes. Or, maybe the pipes did not get a good galvanize job when they were made. However, my money is on corrosive contaminants.

Chris plastic pipe didn't come out until the 80's right. They had regular ribbed pipe and then they came out with the easy flow that cost more but it was smooth inside so water would just fly through it.

Sounds like a major mess. I've heard of finding leaks in smaller pipes by pumping CO2 into them and using a sniffer to see where it comes out, but doubt that would work that far in the ground. Or use an old UDT trick, pump out some water to give clearance, float a small explosive charge down until it stops and blast it open...

Well, the question is what desition the owner comes with. changing the complete pipe to plastic would definitly be the best.Only changing the rusty pieces ist the cheepest way, but not mutch better than now, since the old pipes will collapes sooner or later. Lets see what the owner comes up with later on in this "series of Letsdig18"

If i was the owner of the establishment after taking a look at the first pipe I would have said to rip it all up and replace it, but unfortunately people want things done for free, but thats not feasible so they go with the next option which is cheaply. In the end it will just cost them more money to replace a section here and there than it would be to rip the whole pipe out and replace it with something stronger.
