The Statler Brothers was my first concert experience in 1980. They played the Dunn Center at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville Tennessee. They had a autograph session and a meet-and-greet directly after. That was one of my favorite life experiences getting to meet them.

@panthercreek604 жыл бұрын
Harold sang bass the way its supposed to be sung- he filled the chord. Which is what all members of a quarter are supposed to do. His bass was rich & resonant & he didn't sing 2 octaves below the chord as if having a freakishly low register somehow improves a song. Many bass singers today do that & it sounds awful, or even worse, they find the lowest note they can hit & merely growl a muttering monotone, and ruin a good hymn in the process. Harold did it right. RIP
@thelastjohnwayne3 жыл бұрын
You nailed it. Many Bass singers try to sing too low. just to try to impress people with "How Low Can You Go". And it sounds terrible. It does not sound natural or even fit with the rest of the group. I am a Bass/Baritone. And I know exactly what you mean.

Phil was actually class of '56 - ancestry.com has yearbooks from their high school, and I found him listed as a senior that year. But he was indeed that close in age to Harold... hmm.
@judi60783 жыл бұрын
As far as "Class of", it depends on the individual school district. My son's friend was born the same year he was, but was a year ahead of my son due to a "age five by September 1st" rule. My son was born in October, his friend in March. And then too, there is parental choice, and failing a grade to consider.
