For me, Top Gears decline came when it stopped being predominantly a car show about cars, most of which were new. Once it became about prats pratting about it became uninteresting for a petrol head. I don’t care about rusty old shit boxes. If I wanted to experience thoae I'd just buy one. I want(ed) to experience hypercars or even sensible ones vicariously through the hosts and the stig. This decline started under Clarksons watch, make no mistake. The "specials" and the challenges started to take over the weekly shows. By the time it was cancelled, I'd barely watched a full episode in years. Every time I tried, it was unwatchable junk. And for the record, same applied to The Grand Tour.
