I have always had a good opinion of Chrstian, being not just the CEO and founder of the company, but an engineer, a real car guy. I like that he makes himself available and talks to customers and KZbinrs who are huge fans. I couldn't tell you who is the head of Ferrari.

Dutch IRS (Belastingdienst) largely operate on the principle of "guilty until proven innocent". Had Seth been a day late with submitting a "bezwaar" (and they usually give you impossibly tight deadlines to collect evidence they expect) then he'd also find out why most local car enthusiasts have their cars registered abroad...

@@TaPaKaH1 You're talking rentals and company cars mate. Driving a car that's yours and has a foreign plate is not allowed for Dutch citizens. (Please contact your local tax advisor for more clarification). Having a Dutch plate on your exotic could even be regarded as 'a badge of honour', because it shows you've paid extra due to our ridiculous tax laws (taxing taxes is forbidden, with the exeption of the 'new vehicle tax', called BPM). So, you're taxed 21% VAT on top of the 'new vehicle tax'(Again, please contact your local etc. etc.). And although I won't invite de belastingdienst to a party (way too risky), they are not bad at all when it comes to deadlines. For closing, this was the landlord pushing Spijker into bankruptcy (and I'm not even sure that went through in the end), not the belastingdienst. So this was some bailiff (if you're lucky, it could also have been 'entering-without-knocking-international-collections') putting locks on everything on the premise to be sure it stays put and figuring out who owns what later. If I'm not mistaken, this would be part of 'conservatoir beslag'.

In German law, if you pay for something that will be delivered to you, and the company declares bankruptcy before completing delivery, your money is usually gone, because all assets still in inventory will be sold off to reimburse the largest creditors first. There's a whole subset of law to this, depending on where the item that has been sold to you actually resides at that point - if it is a single item that has been specifically assigned to you/your order, then you'll usually get it delivered. But if you bought "one of 20 refrigerators of the same type in the warehouse", and it hasn't been specifically set aside for you, then you're probably out of luck (and your money).

@@geennaam1201 Norway has the same tax rules as well, they even hade a special tax when you ordered options for a car and called it "luxury" - so if you payed extra for abs brakes on a car in the 90s, you hade to pay a tax for that luxury item 🙄

They heard a timing chain noise? Wasn't the Audi 4.2 in the Spyker derived from the Audi D2 S8 4.2? If so, cam chain tensioners would be all you'd need to replace as it is a timing belt engine. Shotgunning an entire engine seems absurd. That's a bit like saying your oil is dirty sir, this new engine comes with clean oil. ;-)

To get to the tensioners you have to pull the whole engine as the timing chain is between the motor and trans.

@@tfodthogtmfof7644 That is on the later 4.2 engines. It was my understanding that the Spyker engine was D2 S8 derived which is a front timing belt engine. The only chains are between the camshafts and the tensioners sit there. Been there, done that on my own D2 S8. Digging a little deeper into Spyker specs, it looks like they may have moved to the kiss-of-death timing chain engines somewhere in the 2009 model year. Guessing he must have been one of the unfortunate souls that got the later model engine. (Worked out well for him luckily.)
