i dont know if im saying this right, but the production or mix or something on this isnt great? when i was waiting for vocals, i heard muffled words behind glaring instruments. is the mix right?> im not being negative but something is off and i feel like i could like it, but

You heard right! It is not a mistake but done this way on purpose. It starts with the vocals hidden behind the instruments, but during 8 bars they come more and more to the fore. For the next 8 bars the vocals are at the front of the mix as you are used to.
