Among the most formidable was Muhammed Ghori, a Turkish ruler who established a strong foothold in India. Known for his strategic prowess and ruthless determination, Ghori's leadership was marked by relentless campaigns and significant battles, including the famed confrontations with Rajput ruler Prithviraj Chauhan. Ghori's conquests expanded Islamic rule, and he appointed his trusted general, Qutub-ud-din Aibak, as his deputy in Delhi. However, his reign came to a dramatic end in 1206 AD when he was assassinated by members of the Khokhar tribe, seeking vengeance for the atrocities committed during his invasions. Ghori's assassination not only marked the end of his rule but also highlighted the turbulent and violent nature of his leadership.

Had Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan got support from other Indian Kingdoms then Mohammad Ghori would have been completely thrown out from India. Mohammad Ghori is even forgotten in his own Country-Afghanistan. He was a looser and not a Great Warrior. Check yours facts before praising him. You may say that. Actually the thing is the fact that is widely popular everywhere, based on which even a Bollywood movie has been made by Akshay Kumar, is loosely based on the story of Prithviraj Raso written by Prithviraj Chauhan's court poet Chand Bardai. In this poem, Chand Bardai actually states these facts that 1) Prithviraj Chauhan was blinded by Ghori with hot iron rods 2) Then ultimately he killed Ghori with his skill of shooting arrows without even seeing and Chand Bardai helped him do that. But if you research carefully, you would see that modern historians dispute this fact as no historical evidence has been found to corroborate the same.

As per modern historians, Ghori died much later in 1206 AD as told here. Prithviraj Raso was a poem and not a historical evidence. Now please do not abuse if it hurts anyone's sentiments. I have only stated the facts and I have no intention to denigrate any Indian warrior here. Prithviraj Chauhan was a great king and warrior but let us also accept the truth. Thank You. Jai Hind!

When was a kid, I saw an episode of ghori's invasion on the doordarshan serial : bharat ek khoj & also read in Amar chitra katha where they showed prithviraj killing Mohammed ghauri by shooting an arrow at him after being blinded & believed it, only to be shown contrary tale now after all these years.

I also grew up thinking that this thing happened in reality only to read later on in history books and all authentic historical records that Ghori died much later in 1206 AD whereas Prithviraj Chauhan died in 1192 AD after getting defeated in the Second Battle of Tarain. In Prithviraj Raso, another disputed thing is there that Ghori was defeated 16 times in battle by Prithviraj and every time he was either pardoned(after getting captured) or managed to escape from the battlefield but that is not true either as per historians. Only two battles took place. First battle of Tarain(1191 AD) where Prithviraj defeated Ghuri and second one was 1192 AD where Ghuri emerged victorious which marked the beginning of the Delhi Sultanate (officially it began in 1206 though) until it collapsed in 1526 after the First battle of Panipat (1526).

She was the one who led the army against Ghori and defeated him. 1203 AD Ghori and his brother were thrashed by Khwarizmis in West. The only reason they succeeded in India was due to lack of political unity among hindu kings. And tolerant policy of RAJPUTS paved the way for multiple expedition of Ghori

Ghori was great warrior. Prithvi Chauhan was very lucky that in first Tarain he accidentally got hit by an arrow otherwise there was never going to be second Tarain

Ghori was badly wounded by Govind Rai in a sword fight. Rajput fighters completely routed turkish army and he suffered huge casualties. His commanders left him in battle field and run for their lives. Arrows was what saved the turkish empire otherwise they were no match for Rajputs who were known as fierce sword fighters even during britishers time.

Ghori was accidentally hit by an arrow, one of his slaves jumped on his horse and took him out of the battlefield. He came back within a year and defeated Prithvi Chauhan. Later many false narratives were created to hide Prithvi humiliation.

@ssrp1990 through out the history rajputs had been the famous losers. Just brave in their own writings. Every invader came and defeated them and subjugated them. Be it Turks, Afghan, Mughals or British.

​@@snd9826 typical muslims never going to accept true history. First battle of tarrain was a decisive rajput victory. How did ghory got stuck with an arrow when he was such a fierce fighter? It means his main army was routed and he had to step in to save his ass but still got cooked badly by rajputs. And if rajputs were such loosers then how come all of the Rajasthan was still ruled by rajputs and not a single turk could establish his ruler in the Rajasthan region. Rajputs never showed their back even when the odds were against them. Turks on the contrary had no honour and would never think twice before fleeing the battlefield. Thats a recorded history whether you accept or not

​@@snd9826 Rajputs crushed afghans and turks many times. No afghan or turk could establish their control over Rajasthan for a long period of time. Rajputs were unrully. Dont know from where you people take your history classes. But its a recorded history. Rajputs defeated turks and afghans in many battles. You only know about the battles which they lost because it was a very big deal for turks to win against rajputs
