I SCUBA dove the shipwrecks off of Long Island, NY. (and even wrote a book about it!) Pop-Tarts were always in my dive bag. The best food to take on a dive boat. It was in a waterproof wrapper full of sugar and quite edible without toastiing. On Some dive boats, I must admit, the POP tarts became dessert to an on board barbecue!

Its strange to say but i've never used a toaster for pop Tarts. Even as a kid, i just eat it straight from the package.

It's a great backpacking food, too.

I believe that Original Strawberry and Blueberry unfrosted Pop Tarts, along with Tang were used by early Astronauts. I used to take them on extended camping trips to eat for midnight snacks or when it rained too hard to build a campfire for cooking. I never put them in a toaster at home, and I never bought frosted varieties. The originals were a good product with good filling to be eaten right out of the package.. When I tried them decades later, like most formerly good products, they had been cheapened and never bought them again. I think the company reduced the filling when they started frosting them to cut costs and realized the frosted ones would addict children with an ultimate sugar fix so they would not care about quality.

Unfrosted strawberry, (closest to the original) is still my preferred pop tart, growing up in Cleveland when the original was introduced, and participating in the original test marketing.

I still like Pop-Tarts. And, I like Toastems too, when I can find those. What about a video of the history of Spam. Now, that I will not eat it ever again. But, the history of Spam might be interesting. Yes, I still see Spam being sold in the supermarkets

Maybe if were lucky, my country will ban them soon too.

Homemade pop tarts (especially with freshly milled flour) are simply emaculant. They are infinitely superior to store bought pop tarts.

What I want to know is why there's no savory flavors. Can you imagine a pizza flavored Pop-Tart? Or a bacon cheese flavored Pop-Tart?

I actually have a box of Pop-Tarts Frosted S'mores up in my cabinet for a late night snack to enjoy while I'm watching Eat's History or It's History videos!! Frosted Pop-Tarts are the best!! Regular Pop-Tarts are just bland...

Pop tarts are good the way Hershey chocolate is good. It's been not objectivly good. But since it's the taste we were indoctrinated with a children we remember it fondly.

Ryan, it's a toaster pastry -- you were supposed to toast it! Toaster pastries never taste their best fresh from the package.
