90's Shawn was on a whole other level. His entrance, Mic skills, charisma, look, in ring work, athleticism, all were 10/10. These days even Bret Hart would admit to Shawn's talents. Nearly all shawn's matches were entertaining and most were usually best of the night. Match of the year, year in year out.

Great Video. You missed one thing not many people know. I'm a real genuine, hard loyal HBK fan growing up fan, since I was only 13 years old. Starting from his Rockers days since WM' 90 So not bandwagon fan or a young fan that wasn't even alive when HBK was a rocker, but relives his career lol. Yes I'm old! Anyways, HBK's Royal Rumble press conference from Fresno California from Dec 1995, where he talks about his Syracuse attackers, how one got arrested etc and where he announces he will indeed return to the Royal Rumble etc was a reshot version. The real original press Rumble press conference that was never released, he actually announced he will retire from wrestling in tears, due to his concussion and step away forever....but the plan was to make a huge surprise appearance at the Rumble. However, that press conference was immediately ditched and never released because it was leaked so much that he will make a suprise return. So the press conference everyone now sees is the 2nd changed one. In case anyone wonders. I'm also the guy who took the famous KLiq picture in 1996 that has been now circulating the whole internet.

Always like hearing about HBK in 95, as that's the year that cemented him as my favorite wrestler. The cool thing with Shawn is that he had been working color commentary in the months prior to the Rumble, which really allowed him to show his personality and, for me at least, made him likeable for the first time since the Jannetty turn. Rumble 95 was great in that I really didn't expect him to win, but slowly started rooting for him over the course of the match. When he knocks out Bulldog at the end, I marked out so hard. And he's pretty much been my favorite since then.

Love the series, but a couple of points. The original plan for Shawn at SS was an IC defence against Sid(which occurred the next night on Raw). However, as you pointed out the card was so poor, they needed a standout match, hence the change(In kayfabe it was president Monsoon "giving the fans what they want").
