Yeah, it's canonical that actual, for real aliens exist in Fallout.

To be fair, Fallout 2 established that magic (might) exists so anything can be real in the fallout universe

the funny part about the aliens in Fallout is that it started as a easter egg in fallout 1. you could find a crashed spaceship in the wasteland with two skeletons near it. both with very big heads compared to their body when interacted with it you would find some text saying "Property of Area 51, return if found". then fallout 2 had a reference with a decomposing corpse of an alien. then fallout 3 went nuts with it and made it part of the fallout universe as actual lore.

Fun fact: You can find a Japanese Samurai in Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta. Toshiro is from feudal Japan and, obviously, only speaks Japanese. However, he speaks modern Japanese. In the Japanese localization, however, Toshiro actually speaks a Feudal dialect of Japanese which is far removed from actual Japan- keeping the language barrier between the PC and Toshiro intact.

Carl Segan had a great line, at least I believe it was him. He said "only one of two possibilities exist, either we are alone in the entirety of this universe. Or we are not. . . Both, are equally terrifying!" And that statement has haunted me to this day

I'm surprised that noone mentioned this (as far as I can tell) but ShoddyCast made a very subtle reference to the alien easter egg in New Vegas. For the easter egg to appear in-game you the need to select the "Wild Wasteland" trait when creating your character. ShoddyCast name drops this trait at 10:43

mmm wanamingos... they always bring my characters up by a few levels whenever I reached that part of California, challenging when faced as a crowd but not as hopeless as a full nest of deathclaws :D

Once you go in depth, the stories aboard the mothership are quite horrible. Some far beyond those in the Wasteland.

In Fallout 4 there is a war mural showing the US military in different conflicts throughout the ages and one of the parts of it is soldiers fighting on the moon. It was called the Sea of Tranquility conflict and it was kind of implied it was against the Zetans. Also in Fallout 76 and prequel game taking place in West Virginia in 2102 25 years after the bombs dropped the Zetans show up in force with power armor as well as another species of alien referred to as "The Flatwoods Monster"

Storyteller will be injecting more humor as we go. While the info remains on point. I believe that is a Sagan quote irl. He also pointed out. "The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". Very quotable guy.

Out of curiosity, will either of you play the fallout games? After all, that IS the best way to learn about the story.

I don't think they ever will unfortunately, the games they play are more straight forward and linear as opposed to open ended RPGs

When you enter the ship of Mothership Zeta you can find an audio log of the director of vault tec and a senator There a theory that the aliens may have been the one that made the wasteland by accessing are nuke codes again it’s a theory Though I kind want Area 51 in the fallout universe I wonder what that is like
@justanotheranimeprofilepic Жыл бұрын
Always hated that theory. The great war should be humanities mistakes

There already is an Area 51 in Fallout, it’s called the Big MT. 🤦🤓 It’s in the Old World Blues dlc for F:NV.

There's a counter theory that the Zetans wanted to stop the Great War from occurring because it could have removed all future test subjects.

Anyone else just trying to find a violin for a friendly old lady in early game, just to be teleported up to a spaceship with already full inventory and NO way down except going through all of it and completely ruin the rest of the game due to overpowerded weapons? Or was it just me?

The original Fallout was a very gritty dark post-apocalyptic story, but Fallout 2 was much more light-hearted and very silly, developers could build the game with much more autonomy back in the day and so stuffed it with pop-culture reference to Doctor Who, Terminator and just about everything else. Not much of it is canonized, but the encounter where the player encounters a downed alien ship and its hostile captain has appeared in every game since. Ever since Fallout has leaned into the wackiness, Mothership Zeta was the last DLC pack for Fallout 3 and was dedicated to the scenario with the player getting abducted and having to return to Earth and even Fallout 76 has alien-themed events and its an online-only game.

100 billion stars in just our galaxy, and the nearest galaxy to us Andromeda is even larger. There's dozens on galaxies in just our local group which is just a small part of a large super cluster of galaxies which is itself just a tiny piece of the observable universe. So yeah, pretty unlikely there's no other life out there, if it might be too far away for us to ever reasonably encounter it. Does mean actually aliens in fallout are one of the least fantastical parts of the setting

If the aliens had been only in Fallout 1 and 2, or even just been limited to the DLC in 3, they could be brushed off, but no. 1, 2, 3('s DLC), 4, New Vegas, and Fallout 76 all have them. Mind you, their effect on the actual major events and the background lore is probably* negligible.

Personally I found the aliens rather boring. Mothership Zeta was just non stop shooting. Sure you find various holotapes and read or hear the various horid experiments done to the people and animals. But thats the only other thing their is to do. Also the space battle really sucked. You just put full power into weapons when they aren't firing and full power into shields when they are.
