+IIIFadedinkIII The various supernatural phenomena in the Elder Scrolls series might seem equally fantastical to us, but I'm not surprised the people of Tamriel would believe in some magical aspects over others. Some aspects are more obviously verifiable than others. Magic spells, for example, can be observed by basic cause and effect: read spell book, shoot fireball. I believe the mages even have a working idea of the source of magic, though much like our own scientific theories there's much more to learn. The effects of constellations on people's lives seems more difficult to verify empirically, with observational studies and possibly blind experiments, and I'm not sure the mages' philosophy of science is advanced enough to know how to test such a hypothesis well. Most of their experiments involve mix-and-match or trial-by-error methodologies, usually to find new ways to explode things, from what I've seen in the games. Not to mention that seeing is believing, and the average person may never actually get anything more than hearsay and rumors regarding star-signs and magic stones.

+Dalton Tonga I think it's down to how little they understand their world. A flying city was in their world like 100 years prior to Skyrim and a tree from that city exists in Skyrim. Not a single person in Skyrim believes that city ever existed. It's all down to the fact that a lot of them are illiterate and they can't take pictures at will. Sad really.

Ethan Stansmore Fair point. Even if the scholars did have good, empirical explanations for certain aspects of their reality the average person will likely never have access to them due to educational barriers. And the scholarly organizations like the Mages' Guild and College are very insular and less than willing to share their knowledge with the general populace, unlike scientists in our world. Not to mention there is lost knowledge that even they haven't learned about yet, like the flying city. Considering these factors, some things that are true may be regarded as simply superstition until experience says otherwise. Knowledge of the past is lost and then rediscovered in Tamriel much like it has been in our world. I'm glad I live in a time where we have such excellent tools and understanding to teach us about our world and the nature of the universe :)

LOL Icon You already get that kind of deal from the Daedric princes. No, the signs were designed to help guide your character into your specialized class. Fuck, in Oblivion I was a Breton Wizard born under the Atronoch and just because of my racial and sign stats I was nearly immune to magical attacks. I also had a large pool of magicka to start. But it came with a heavy penalty. I could no longer regen magicka naturally. I needed potions constantly. Stakes were raised. Shit was real..... Until you find out about the Telekinesis exploit... But anyways the signs were entertaining game changers. Some were extremely useless while others were really useful.

+Azraelseraphim the dragonborns power is to change his reality sublty and to have total control over fate and history, thats why the book of fate in windhelm (i think its in windhelm) is white for him/her. if he wants the brotherhood to have control over skyrim, or the companions, or anyone. he can just put in a little effort and suddenly hes the leader of the faction and the faction has total control. or if he wants to be good at this specific thing i.e. magic, or sneak or whatever. a little effort, changing his reality to be born under the thief or (wizard?) stone would make his goal easier. his destiny is to defeat alduin from eating the world because the world is his play thing to edit and fuck up as long as he lives. thats what i read once from the wikia and idk bethesda backs it up pretty good

___ JmortL You're right and also wrong. If you achieve Chim you can change reality. Reality Manipulation is in line with godhood. Though like you say Dragonborn do have a great influence over the fate of Tamriel. Martin Septim as an easily example saved Tamriel by sacrificing himself by becoming the avatar of Akatosh and banished Mehrunes Dagon back to Oblivion. Also from a roleplaying perspective it is pretty streamlined that you can swap out signs at a whim. Skyrim doesn't have a strong commitment to traits it seems. In fact it has done everything to allow your to restat your perks. I would rather be some dude trying to make my way in the world then some demi-god. In fact I cripple my own characters in Skyrim just to make things more interesting.

+Derwan The windhelm/winterhold thing could just be a scripting error, as for saying she'll be a bard; Bard can refer to multiple things including musicians as found in Skyrim and taught at the Bard's College. But it can also just be a general term for a storyteller.

Along with The Elder Scrolls Lore, this was your best series. I just love how much effort Bethesda has put into this universe, and even when they find themselves into a no-explanation situation, the writers just put something out of their sleeves like "Aw yeah, that. It was nothing, just a Dragon Break. Stuff that none of the humans or other sensitive beings will ever be able to know." and then we found ourselves burning our brains while trying to find sense in the events of the games. Gotta love this game. I know that the guy who used to do the videos for your channel had to stop, but please, when you're able, return with the Elder Scrolls series of videos, please.

+CaptainPositron well, mundus is basically a solar system. if you left nirn, you'd just be in space. there wouldn't be a sun at the center, but everything else would be the same. once you left mundus, you'd fly into oblivion. I'm not sure if you can actually pass the burders, but you can always take a star. the stars are holes through oblivion that connect aetherius and mundus. so if you flew down one of those, you'd eventually end up in aetherius and possibly be obliterated immediately. how aetherius looks or works structurally is unknown, because the things that made it there either got destroyed on the way or just never came back.

I must say.... wow. I've been subscribed to ShoddyCast for a month or 2 now I think, but I never saw that there was a storyteller about skyrim. I can't imagine the amount of work that must have gone into all these 10 episodes ( as of right now) and the lore research. A very enjoyable experience, although quite short. I've been subscribed for years now, if you play eso, there is a lore book, (forgot the name) and it tells how the dagerfall covanent held a fort from the pact and dominion. this was an actual battle in the beta that the short cast was in. in the book you will read, "and then there was a shooded cast of arrows. " they even did an episode on it. so these guys are cannoned in the universe. Blood For The Pact!

This one in particular has so much potential for another Elder Scrolls game. There are a lot of stories that have had no definitive answers in the Elder Scrolls Series that could be a part of the next game like how the moons temporarily vanished from the sky leaving the public in panic then suddenly the Moons came back and The High Elves claimed they did it, in return Kahjiit offered an alliance with the High Elves because they supposedly saved the land by bringing the moons back. That is a shady story right there and would absolutely work for a game, Did the High Elves actually bring back the moons? Why did they vanish to begin with? If The High Elves are lying then who or what actually brought the Moons back?

I believe it's before. Back when they explained the Draugr crypts, the girl mentions that she hears news about a Dragon not long before. that hasn't happened in millennia, mind you

It's going on during because these two are setting up mini events that go on in the game like the Dragonborn breaking that shop owner's pot or getting that argonian follower (his name always escapes me) to get caught by the falmer whilst fishing.
