This is an insanely intense, unsettling, and unusual scenario, that got out of hand due to negligence, absence of self respect for oneself and others, a lack of discipline, and permitting yourself and the other person to continue such acts of atrocity. One was enabled the other implied assent, one more than the other. Watching how Ari explored such a strange and unexpected scenario is in fact unique, but allows the mind to wonder, how many people do get away at large with scenarios like this, if not worse, and do we permit it to happen, or do we say something about it?

I wonder if the father initially was the aggressor … remember how he touched his face in the beginning, and he was all smiles. But cut to 14 years later, and the Son has become the aggressor. The dialogue in the last scenes, kind of alluded to the fact that the father turned him into this person. It was a very good short film. From the mother, actually knowing and hiding from the truth, to the way the father reacted to his son being a very monstrous figure (bathroom scene) This was done really well, disturbing content, but done well. Was interesting to see how abuse affects the family, especially when they swapped it making the parent the victim. Sorry for all the grammatical errors I use voice control

Cases in which a son has one for their father is so extremely rare & unlikely, that their barely documented if at all, probably because just as its potrayed in the movie, its something that never gets spoken up about or exposed. This was written and directed by a white man named Ari Aster. I Googled him because I had a feeling a white man wrote this. Although I will say I think he just twisted this story and switched it from a child being molested by a parent to a "what if it was flipped around and a parent was being molested by their child scenario". When you look at it like that then it's just a point of view switch for shock value. Since, unfortunately this world we live in it is disgustingly common to hear of a parent (mostly fathers) molesting their child. So for shock element and a new take this man wrote it as the child molesting his father. It's all sickening, but he succeeded on the shock element with his twist on this scenario.

I remember seeing this years ago. Unfortunately I was able to understand it. It’s wrote this way to see what the child actually goes through. The father never said anything because a child never says anything and when they do nobody believes them. In majority of the cases the mother knows and never says anything to the abuser or stops them. I was able to understand it because unfortunately it was my life at one point.

Although very disturbing, this is brilliantly executed and shows how this kind of abuse can happen within a family and rot it from the inside out. The role reversible is absolutely genius in showing how children who suffer at the hands of a parent or family member must feel, alone, shameful, and silenced. We can see how easily an adult feels helpless, so imagining how helpless a small child must feel in the same situation.

this is just a case of sexual perversion to the greatest extent....the son had an overly obsessed relationship..kind like freuds theory but he was attracted to the father instead of the mother. That mother naive as hell, she saw those signs from everysince childhood but ignored.And the wedding day she saw her son giving the dad oral sex and she was still able to ignore that and have dinner with the son and his wife like nothing happened...she more sick than them. The father was soft and wanted to be the sons friend and not a father..Hes the adult, at some point he was older and stronger. He couldve stopped that whole perversionship from happening. This is a huge lesson to people who get into relationships and dont know really what they are getting into..u never know someone fully, be observant and assertive always..and trust no one even in apparent normalcy
