And, knowing me, little by little, each song from the album, and hopefully, the entire discography will have their moment to shine in my headphones. @@RootEight if you look up, rock was basically dead until The Strokes came along back in 2000/2001. They were considered the saviours of rock, gave birth to the indie rock genre ans inspired MANY of the bands you mentioned directly and indirectly. Many admit that they took inspiration from them, *specially* Arctic Monkeys. They had a huge impact in UK and the US with their 2 first albums (and maybe the 3rd too). The Strokes didn't save the last decade, they saved the last two, bc they made the ones that did it.

I don't think this has to do with strokes clone bands. That was so long ago. I think this is more of the strokes saying we are doing our own thing. 'We know people are asking for a specific product from us. A particular style. But we aren't music in a can. We grow and change and explore new creative journeys.'
@lizkeller58274 жыл бұрын
agreed. But there first two albums are from so long ago.. I feel like we already understand the message with the two or three albums that have followed. I am not sure why they are revisiting it.
@alex2wice24 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Keller music is music, they’re doing what they love. why is placing a term or specific era to visit or even revisit such an important thing? “cloning” or “letting us know they’re staying the same”,, i doubt it matters really. it’s music, we enjoy or we don’t. i doubt there’s a statement to it. they’re giving us music, their passion. with statement or not

Tired of this argument. For whatever reason the Strokes have a section of the fanbase that says everything is amazing. It takes away from the many peaks the band has had. All the other Strokes fans are simply fans of good music and won't "autolike" everything. This song is great btw dont ruin it by over analyzing it...

I'm pretty sure it's just aneat concept that ties into the idea of making bad decisions. The product is being falsely advertised and when people buy it everything descends into chaos, mirroring the life of the protagonist in the song
