Very insightful detail on specific things to do. Many people train hard and get "Tough" without completely understanding how they are surviving or defending all the various positions. Your video's demonstrate clear "Specific Concepts" with exact technique . Not just a plethora of attacks with no path. Really impressed with your stuff!!!!

Thank you. I always do the second move u shown (grabbing sleeve then shrimping out) but, this is a good move to do before I need to resort to that move.

Hello. I'm wondering if there's any risk of breaking the wrist if someone heavy comes down hard on your hand when you frame with one arm? Thanks.

What do you do if they pin one leg down to the mat and keep a strong grip on the other leg preventing your leg from pummelling in? Or is it pretty much just over at that point?

Question: I got always the problem, that after when my opponent do the leonardo lo pass he imeterly smash himself into the side position, so i don't have time to bring my leg back and my block hand can't hold is smash... Any idea what could I do?

toreando was the first pass I learned, Then I stopped using it because it drains too much energy and everytime I try it I get put in spider guard. Or so I thought, until a brown belt toreando'd his way through my spider guard

Can you show some no gi pass defense? I'll be playing butterfly guard, and the passer will get ahold of my ankles, stretch my legs and drop his weight down driving with his shoulder. I'll frame with both hands, but usually end up in a twister side control situation, or half guard with him facing my feet.

He/she will either keep the grips and you can still maintain the regaining of guard or when the grips are released recover guard, the key is to keep doing the foundations of the recovery and drill, drill, drill...

What if my BJJ pantaloons are IBJJF regulation length and the guy grabs on by the ankles?
@EvanMcLaren5 жыл бұрын
I do this, and it's successful, even two or three times, but good players simply stay close to me, continue to move side to side and work their passes, and eventually get by. I'm beginning to study solutions, like developing spider and lasso games that will help me make quicker, more effective responses to their pant grips. But, if you have any guidance regarding how to play or approach that moment when you're beginning to recompose off of this defense but your opponent still has grips and some passing energy, I would welcome it. Obnoxious a la carte request, I realize. Thanks for your patience.
@JonThomasBJJ5 жыл бұрын
Evan McLaren great question. Watch my video why you’re always defending from guard. I talk a lot about this, but basically when you are defending the pass you need to be looking to establish your initial entanglement grip while defending. Often initial entanglement grips are lasso sleeve control or an ankle grip for dlr
