Because blue roses aren't natural at all. The rose has to be genetically modified to have the blue pigment - at best in reality it comes off looking more lilac in color. No amount of typical cross-breeding will ever get you a blue rose irl. That's why it's so hard to get them in animal crossing, why the genes have to be so specific.

Did the easier 4-step Asteriation method featured in the DazzaBound and John Austin Plays videos, no time travel, but I did have a friend from another island come water every single day and then yesterday once had quite a few hybrid reds had 3 visitors come and water. This morning woke up to two blue roses! They actually came from the “losers bracket” of replanting the reds that come from the step 4 hybrid reds in another area together shown in the John Austin Plays video. Took a little under a month in realtime from start to finish. Also, there are now updated versions of the flower guides you show with some corrections and additional info

I just got blue roses and all I did was trying to breed orange roses together and it worked. No time travelling, no hybrid islands. pure luck I suppose, but i'm happy I finally got one.

For those trying to get blue roses organically and without time travel: look up the four step method on KZbin. And trade watering on the nofeeac subreddit. If you get your roses to "gold" sparkles every day, and you plant a lot of roses, you can have blue roses in about two weeks. It's a lot of work to grind waterings, this is true. But the simplicity of the four step method will make this all less frustrating because you won't have to do tests and waste days on those. Each step in the four step method produces a new color (except for special reds at the end) so it's easier to manage. And while the special reds from the four step method have a very, very low chance of producing a blue rose, with water trading you will have tons of opportunities to get blue roses. From there, separate any blue roses you get, trade watering, and clone the hell out of them.

I'm working on the Blue rose without time travelling. Helps a lot with the dodocodes community coming to my island and water daily. Breeding is 5X more effective with just 1 friend help water. I used my own method after reading the shared google doc on flower genomes. The step to get to the special hybrid purple takes a long time.

statistically it is impossible up to 5σ certainty if you do this truly randomly; you literally have less than 0.0001% to get a blue if you arrange your flowers in a complete random manner (including arrangement of flowers, how you group them) with a moderate test sample. Unless of course you got some hybrid flowers from an island. Otherwise, please kindly fuck off.

Secondly, yes, I have some hybrid flowers on my island, and all appeared randomly when I was time travelling to kick out some villagers, but they're far from the spot where the blue one sprouted. The blue one appeared near a couple whose colors I don't really remember, so maybe I got extra lucky with this. I'm not THAT bored to lie about some virtual blue flower on a videogame lol Edit: I checked out, and I have a patch of seven blue roses near a patch of pink ones, and some single blues near oranges. I don't know how hybridation works, but these are the facts xD

I finally got ONE! And I refuse to time travel. I should have documented it but after putting what I believed to be hybrid reds together in 2s all over my island after much mixing and not really getting anywhere with the payla method.... I think it was either Austin Johns simpler method that worked.... Or my friend saying stick orange and purple roses together to get a hybrid red.... I can't remember which ones were which because I am a hoarder of flowers and just tried to keep any of those reds together. Usually if I got say 2 reds from Austin Johns method at the same time together and friend method together... But ya it was a mess and now I can finally sell all my test flowers and clean up my very cluttered island. And I pretty much only scattered them myself. A couple times I brought my hubby's character over to water but it wasn't this time >^^< so I have a slight bit of pride.... Now just the wait for it to clone.... It's been about 4 days and still no clone... Sigh. I kept it parents though just in case I may get another sibling from them >^^

i did it i started from seed bags and got them in a few hours from tt and I followed a guide and it was a 4 step prosses plant white roses from seed bags these should touch like 10 or so, you will get purple roses throw away all white roses you get from this step. Step 2 in a new spot plant red roses from seed bags like 6 making sure there is a 2 space gap from your other reds so they don't make offspring flowers move the purples from step 1 next to these reds so you get pink roses throw away all roses that aren't pink. step 3 plant a lot of yellow roses from seed bags and place the pinks from step 2 next to them make sure that no yellows are touching use the two space gap as before you will get hybrid reds from the pink and yellows roses throw away all roses that are not hybrid red. step 4 plant lots of your hybrid red in a hex pattern and you will get blue roses thay have a 1/64 chance to spawn a blue rose as before throw away all offsprings that are not blue from here as they have a different gens from the good hybrid reds you just made in step 3 keep adding more reds from step 3 and you will increase your odds of getting blues remember to get rid of all flowers that are not the color you need for each step as you need the right gens to get blues and thay have the wrong gens you need for the process hope i help someone

I am actually enjoy the breeding process! Everyday when i open the game and check if there's purple prom my seed white field, to check if there's black from my seed red, so on, been doing that for two weeks now, everyday, getting closer and closer. Friends offered me some blue roses but i rejected them because i just enjoy that so much! I am not rushing anywhere anyway.

I am breeding flowers in real time. It is my husband's island. I am still working on purple windflowers and purple tulips and of course all the hybrid rose colors. My son had the orange hyacinths on his island so that saved me time and my brother-in-law said I could take some flowers from his island so I got a head start on pansies with his help.

i put my orange and purple roses next to each other and took any hybrid reds they spawned and put them in their own area. After a couple days I got a blue from them. I think I just got really lucky though, getting one only a week after I first started trying. My sister has been trying for months, pretty much since release, and hasn't got any yet 😬☠️

Fun fact: I was playing normally and since I only cared about watering my flowers I got a complete random blue rose and I made 4 of them before my friend came and offered me bells and tickets A LOT OF BELLS AND TICKETS for my 4 blue roses, I didn't care about it so i gave it and he paid me but I haven't been able to create more.... I feel bad I didn't keept one blue rose for myself.

Did the old school method en masse, basically shotgunning it. Shuffled around my red roses every couple days and got a blue rose in about 2 months time, give or take. Ended up with around 60 reds that I shuffled around. I shuffled because my method led to the 50/50 chance of getting hybrid red.

I just got my first blue rose today with no time traveling. I have been working on flower breeding every day since my second week playing. (First week of April) I would not have been able to do it without guides. I was stuck on the purple flower test for at least 3 weeks. After that, it went pretty fast. The first time my test produced a yellow rose, I duplicated that purple flower like crazy.

Jesus Christ, blue roses DESTROYED my will. It took me like 2 months to get one. *i don't even time travel* I just did it in mass and forced at least 2 of my friends to water my flowers every day. For Two Whole Months. TWO MONTHS. I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW STRESSFUL THAT WAS. My whole island was a flower nursery. LITERALLY. Ok, I'm done. I honestly think I just got lucky with the genes because I didn't have to repeat very many steps. One of my friends is still stuck in breeding purple with white. Unfortunately, in real life it is impossible to truly engineer and create a blue rose. The rose genome lacks delphinidin, a pigment that causes a blue color in flowers. People have tried inserting delphinidin from other plants into roses, but they're only really getting purple roses. No amount of genetic engineering can produce a true blue rose.

i actually got a blue rose legitimately, i followed a guide on how to get it and i tried it with time traveling, i got it all till the last step which was getting the blue rose, i time traveled in total about a year into the future of the current time i had but i gave up. Just about a month ago, i was deleting my island because i was going to start it again on another switch and the switch where i had that island was going to my brother, so right when i was going to start transferring some of my most precious stuff to my new island, i saw it, the blue rose, it had actually grown.

I don’t time travel, I now have a bunch of options to get blue rose (including the double hybrid oranges bred myself from seeds ) and it’s taken about a month with my daughter watering too, it’s driving me slowly mad! At some point one of the breeding pairs has to give me a blue rose🤪 edit- got one yesterday from reject oranges from two hybrid reds (1 in 64 chance). Got the purple pansy today, just the green mum to go. I’m re breeding the purples from seed since I can’t remember if I properly bred my existing purples. It’s messing with my brain, but I’ve got all the hybrids with the exception of the green mum with no time travel or hybrid island, never got it and it would have been windflower or hyacinth anyway.

I think the reason this method is easier is because all of the hybrid reds produced are good, they just have a very low percent chance of making a blue. I also had five people watering every day!
