I fasted with a Muslim coworker as a non Muslim because he missed the experience of breaking fast with a group (due to covid) so a bunch of us planned for a day. A couple of us prayed at the prayer times (myself included) a couple meditated. We gathered a bunch of food and went to a break room and broke fast together. It wasn't that bad honestly because I made sure to drink LOTS of water before hand.

I was also thinking of living like in tha ramadan. I would like to think of the homeless. Just like you think of the poor. But most poor are also homeless. So I will wake up in the moning and go to be around the homeless. I will beg at the street and eat what they do. I will be around them all day. But when it get cold in the eavning I will go back and sleep at my 5 stars hotel. Then I do like the ramadan. Think of the poor but eat as much as people do at christmas but here it's for a whole month. It's not helthy for your body. If you don't eat you don't get closer to any god. It's only hallucinations. Wake up
@doo3680 Жыл бұрын
@@petej4752 hello, I just want to say why would you go begging and take alms from people when you know that this alms could have been given to someone more in need than you, and why would you go to a 5-star hotel when evening comes, if you are homeless, you won't have the chance to dream about a night in a five-star hotel, instead, you'd better go to your home and donate the money you would have spent in the hotel, after all this I don't support your idea you have to be logical and know your class in society if someone goes begging during the day and goes to a 5-star hotel in the evening this only makes this person occupied, instead you can go and give homeless people some meals or something to wear also I want to tell you that fasting in Ramadan is not a hallucination, but in fact, it is a very beautiful thing that helps us teach ourselves discipline and feel poor. Ask yourself why Ramadan was not fasting for one day but for a whole month. The answer is that it teaches you discipline which helps people build good habits and get rid of the bad ones in addition to feeling poor. Fasting works to purify the body of many toxins and many Among other benefits, and you can search in Google and see many benefits. I also ask you to show some respect for the religion of Islam, because hallucinations do not ask a person to help the poor, liberate slaves, and appreciate the environment and every creature around him.

One of the toughest things about Ramadan is the lack of sleep since we do late night prayers and then wake up early to eat and pray before dawn. This video is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. As a muslim woman, and someone who is fasting during Ramadan from a very early age it was beautiful for me to see how you took this task seriously and did your research properly. Many muslims that I know only fast from food and water but it should be so much more! Watching this (during Ramadan, now) I felt the whole time like I wish I could invite you for iftar, because Ramadan for us is also sharing and getting together. My family lives a very fast life and we rarely get together and eat at the same time, but during this month everyone finds time! We invite friends, family, neighbours, or just go out to public places like parks, bring food and break fast with other people. I live in Bosnia and we have many religions here, so my non muslim friends sometimes prepare iftar for us or come break fast with us. If you ever come to Bosnia, I promise I will cook and share food with you!

Its a nice Detox for your body, a way to teach your soul to be patient and to be thankful for the things you have. Its also a way to understand the poor but when you think about it we can't truly understand what they're going through because at the end of the day you just have to stay hungry till sunset while the poor doesn't no when they're next meal is going to be. I really like this video of yours and I love how u try to understand other religions, cultures and traditions. I hope u have a nice day. Bye :)

Just putting it out there but as a new thing fasting can be soooo difficult, I've been fasting since childhood and since we are surrounded by snacks and regular mealtimes it's all you look forward to. However now being an adult it truly does become a mindset. When I'm fasting it's an automatic response not to think or worry about food unless I'm planning for when fast opens or closes. It gives you a lot of mental freedom to focus on other things you want to do around the clock. Not to say the stomach won't distract you 😂 especially as you get closer to opening fast time.

This! You are so right! I am a morning person and I usually eat as soon as I open my eyes, and on regular days I am sooooo hungry by noon already, and if I don't eat by 3 or 4 my body literally starts shaking. When I am fasting (especially after few days into Ramadan) I don't feel the hunger at all, I don't miss coffee... It is simply the focus and intention that gets you through the day easily on those days. Also I am usually nervous when I don't eat, during Ramadan, I am Buda. :D

Ramadan Mubarak 😊 It’s anazing to see you take the chance to try this out! As we grow older the repeated Ramadan’s teach us though, it’s not just about the food and drink, in fact, it’s almost not about it at all, but it’s about learning to be grateful, learning to be a better version of yourself, and becoming closer to your religion Finding peace Finding sanctuary The prayers are essential but even so if one lies while fasting, the reward of that fast is negated So it’s that important to improve oneself To give charity Even if that charity is one smile Because you never know how much. Of a burden you may lift from a random stranger when you smile at them and they smile back It’s a beautiful month of learning and a reset for all of us really Honestly for the health benefits physically and mentally, I’d encourage anyone who’d like to fast, even just a week like she has courageously done here, try it out Like meditating for each prayer time, which was amazing by the way love that, maybe pick up a habit Pick up soemthing you want to keep with you all the way And if you need to break your fast don’t be hard on yourself But try be resilient It builds character in such an amazing way

I am a new Muslim. I managed the first week of fasting but before I converted I came off a horrible vegan diet that made me almost anaemic, does it make me a bad Muslim that I had to stop my fast due to concerning iron and vitamin levels?

You really make me happy while I watching your video. Ramadan is a beautiful opportunity to change your self and correct your mistakes in the life. It’s big chance to avoid the bad habits and to learn your self who to be humble .

This was heart warming to watch Thank you for taking us with you on this journey I would like to add to why we fast (other than feeling with deprived people) Because deprived people who are Muslim also fast in Ramadan so then what's the point 😅 I think fasting teaches us to detach ourselves from our physical desires and need, and strengthen our spiritual desires as humans. If I can stop myself from eating and drinking (the fuel of my body) for many hours of the day ,I can do anything I'm that strong. And doing that to opay Allah raises my spirituality and fulfill it to last me the whole year. Cleansing my body and soul gives me a deep level of happiness and satisfaction And the reward (in heaven) is so worth it, and at the end of Ramadan Eid al-Fitr comes with such happiness and gratitude to all that Allah grants us everyday 💖

I never knew that fasting included water too until I had two people in my martial arts class who were fasting. It must have been even more difficult to fast while doing high intensity exercise like that (the teacher did tell them they could go lighter e.g. only had to do 10 push ups when the rest were doing 20)

I did Ramadan for 2 years...while in college, ate ramen 🍜 in the morning between 6-7am,the classes,then worked,studied all fucken day at school campus until I came home after 11pm, then ate ramen 🍜....I did it cuz I was broke mostly the whole year....you telling me I did Ramadan unconsciencelly just by being born into the lower class and trying to get a. Education I couldn't really afford but did what was nessacery to push forward in life? All while being unreligious ( I've been a so called atheist since I was 10years old)...and yes my head would hurt from not eating...it fucken sucked but the moment I ate those noodles? The world made sense again...I did this shit for 6-7months straight because I couldn't actually afford food except ramen noodles because tuition,gas,bills, and sometimes sending money to my family took it all, and it didn't help my roommates where mooches. Lol I'm barely learning about fasting in the Muslim culture...and I'm starting to realize I did some Muslim fasting just by trying to go to college and get my bachelor's of science LMAO

Thank you for this video!! Made me wanna try and participate in Ramadan too :) also wanted to mention that in Judaism there is a similar holy day called “Yom Kippur”. On Yom Kippur Jewish ppl fast for 25 hrs to seek forgiveness from god, from other humans, and from themselves for any wrongdoings in the past year.

Good video. Well done. Fasting: 1- is not new for Muslim only but jesus, moses fast as well. 2 - Muslim fast because it is a commandment from God. 3-teaches self control, patience, community togetherness. 4-remember the poor and the needy in the world, hence people are more charitable during Ramadan. 5- fasting is the only act which shows the sincerity toward God. Because you can tell the people you are fasting but secretly eating food. Hence the reward of fasting from God has no limit. Also there is a gate in paradise called the gate of fasting. This is for people who fast regularly.

Am so glad you mentioned this because it truly sums up what Ramadan is about… yes it was mentioned in the video that we fast for many reason but the number one by far is that it’s a commandment from Allah and it’s the only thing we do it sincerely to him… Other “ibadat” (requirements) are done for ourselves like Salah which is that great strong spiritual connection with Allah that literally cleanse the mind and heart… May Allah grant us Jennah 🙏

Regarding point 1, Jesus, Moses and the rest of the prophets were all Muslims. Meaning that they submit to one God only.
@elyakinbiAllah Жыл бұрын
All prophets were Muslims Islam is the last sharria God added new commands in the Coran but it is the same belief that God sent from the beginning when he created earth, and sent Adam and Eve, surrendering to God and trusting his destiny knowing that he's the only one who control's everything and that he's the most juste so you feel safe and you trust in his destiny whatever happens to you here on earth is for your good because he wants paradise for us, and following the life here may leads you to hell so you surrender to him knowing that his promise is true those who believe and surrend and do good will enter paradise.

Hey Hi Jessica hope , pray and wish you'd be okay . I just came through this vlog . Watching it in July 2023 . I just loved and really admired the way you completed 7 fasts . Felt overwhelmed watching going against those temptations of food , water etc and cherishing those moments while trying to feel the true spirit behind fasting in Ramadan . Loved the way you were eager to seek knowledge of Ramadan and muslim culture and then trying implying on yourself as well . By doing meditation at time of 5 daily prayers and giving 2.5 percent charity of income you really tried fasting in it's true spirit . Many non muslims or people of other faith do try Ramadan fasting in their lives & on youtube as well but haven't watched anyone like you who has tried fasting in it's true spirit which is about empathy , gratitude , self control , charity , healthy food , realisation of mistake which you realised on the first day that you have to have suhoor meal before Fajr prayers so on 2nd day you didn't do any mistake you learned & did it perfectly and specially you started meditating when it was time of prayers. Hope that Ramadan went well for you . Hope you had fun doing it and you would have learned more about Ramadan . Wish you all the best . May Allah (God) bless you and may he guide you always on the right path . Thank you so much for making this video and telling to western world that how beautifully all muslims around the world how they celebrate the holly month of Ramadan . I hope you do fasting for 2 weeks in the next Ramadan . Love , respect and good wishes from Pakistan ❤
