I remember when this video came out. This is the most excited I have seen these guys, Pete seems almost self conscious about it. I lusted after this pedal hard but wanted to put the money toward a better amp. I’m back watching it now because I’m ready and am looking at this vs the Timeline. But I keep coming back to the Volante. But 4 years! Wow, time flies…

I don't normally like Strymon - too expensive for my taste. But this combination of Volante and Sunset perfectly captures the sound of the albums I loved growing up. Not cheap, but compared to the cost of a real Echorec or RE201 it's a bargain.

Love the Volante, have it, get lost in those sounds each time. However, real star of this video is Pete and his playing. That last jam was something else. I'm pretty sure I held my breath the whole way through. I've heard delicate phrasing of Roy Buchanan, Gilmour's wall of sound, fiery ferocity of Eddie Hazel, and obviously Pete's signature touch of something magical.

Pete explaining what an analog tape delay is and how the mechanism works MEANWHILE there is a vintage Roland RE-201 Space Echo tape delay/echo/reverb right behind them sitting between the Orange cab and Orange Dual Terror head. Has this ever been used in a video? I just sits there unused. It makes me sad. I used to own an absolutely mint Roland RE-201 years ago. I even changed the tape myself after a time. Not exactly sure how I managed that to be honest.
