Did she forget that animated movies have long end credits that show every single person who worked on the movie?
@olhydra

We know she was lying, but it’s actually true that not every person’s name will be in the credits. Sometimes they are just listed as the studio they work for, but everything else she said made it sound like she had no idea what she was talking about. I assume she learned that specific excuse about the credits from someone attempting to defend her online.

That's not true. I personally have worked on huge projects that I am legally not allowed to disclose due to NDA. This is especially true if you're working as outsource. But that's just the thing, I'm not allowed to talk about it, like at all. Like you can't hide behind an NDA when people start asking for proof, because telling everyone you worked on this specific huge project like a Miyazaki film obviously already breaks that NDA in the first place lmao
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz 7 ай бұрын
@@KTheBoiNDAs aren't normally allowed to last forever and aren't entirely all encompassing. Like the agreement allows the company to come after you for damages, but they'd have to be able to prove damages :D they also only cover things that are actually not public, so say I worked on something that was pitched to a famous Hollywood film director as a part of a bidding process, BUT since that entire thing got mothballed from what i heard, there's potentially nothing much i can say about it. If it did come out then it wouldn't make sense that I cannot say that I have worked on something. It's not useful to competitors or anything.
@KTheBoi
@KTheBoi 7 ай бұрын
@@SianaGearz Must be nice, totally not applicable in my case; you're probably dealing directly with the IP holders if they're not yourself in your case. Talk to me when you work for a client who does not want *their* client to know their IP is being contracted away under the table. All I'll say further on the matter is, AAA gaming is completely unsustainable; had it not for cheap third-world labor finishing these absurdly huge projects, nothing would be released in the AAA space.

As an animation student, I feel like I can give some info to hash out that lady's lie. The most frames I've seen was 48 frames per second and that was for the film, The Thief and The Cobbler. The usual amount of frames in a feature film is 24 frames per second. Usually animators get assigned one scene at a time which can take months. Which doesn't sound like a lot but when multiplying by hundreds of employees, it adds up. I'm just saying if she did one scene, it would not be 25 000 drawings, that is insane, even for anime industry standards. Also in that interview that lady did, she didn't do a proper ball animation, you're supposed to stretch the ball when its about to hit the ground and squash it when it hits the ground. If she could not draw at least a proper ball animation, I doubt she animated for ANY movie or show. A ball animation is a HUGE fundamental for animators to do. Its why even veteran animators still draw a ball animation, its an exercise. Miazaki would NEVER hire an animator who cannot bounce a ball properly to do the OPENING of his final film! Though I doubt he will retire. I think he just says he will retire as a way to have long vacations tbh cause he just keeps coming back.

Thief and the Cobbler was shot on 35mm film, which is limited to 24 frames per second. Most traditionally animated features are animated mainly on 2s (1 drawing per 2 frames) and sometimes on 1s (1 drawing per frame) when needed. Thief and the Cobbler was unique in that it was animated all on 1s.

This story goes to show that people don’t know how animation and art in general works. 25,000 frames is an insane amount for just one person to draw single-handedly, even if it’s rough drawings or refining some details. I heard this story through a Colombian animator who lives in Japan, on Twitter, and she was rightfully upset in pointing out how there are Colombian women animating out there, and this women stole that recognition from them!

Geraldine: Yes, Technoglass. There I hold the title of Design and Marketing Professional. Uhh I am... uhhh well, I was the "right hand" of the Director of communications. I'm saying "I was" because, with all of this, I didn't have enough time to explain and compile all of the hard evidence... and, well, tomorrow I have to go collect all of the stuff I have in my desk. Guy: So did they fire you for all of this [situation]? Geraldine: Uhhh well yes. I've already been told to submit my resignation letter, and tomorrow I'm gonna talk with my boss in order to find a solution, find something. But yeah, what I can tell is that for now I have to submit my resignation letter. Guy: Okay. Geraldine: And well, clearly, yeah. Guy: Okay, let's continue... A lot of slang is used so sorry if it reads weird 💀 but sounds like she is being forced to quit yet is still trying to save her job. As somebody who went to school for animation.... she is an outright liar. Plus I'm 1000% sure Ghibli won't hire outside of Japan. They prefer to keep their jobs local and keep work for people who are Japanese residents. Unless you are WAY better than any other animator out there, I highly doubt they would hire an outsider. Plus Hayao wouldn't be so "kind" to one of his animators. He's known for being a tyrant in the workplace. Animators also aren't illustrators, they're keyframers and inbetweeners. They could be outside of the studio, but while working that's what they're called.
@xladycaosx
@xladycaosx 7 ай бұрын
not an animation expert but as an immigrant in Japan I second this. If the person has to be in Japan, to hire a foreigner and sponsor their visa you need to demonstrate that the foreigner is hired over a Japanese person because they have some skills that the Japanese person doesn’t have (that’s why it’s easier to get into jobs related to language skills etc.). Animation is a hard field to get into because of this, especially for a top studio it would be hard to justify not being able to find a Japanese to do this job. If we assume she’s working freelance from abroad… why hire her specifically ? Unless she has MAD skills, there would be someone in Japan who can do the same job without the language and time zone barrier.
@FrenkTheJoy

Animation studios only outsource animation to other animation studios. If Ghibli WAS hiring outside of Japan, they would be hiring an actual studio and some random singular woman. If she was THAT amazing they would've hired her to work at the actual studio in Japan. I can't imagine how insane it would be to deal with having one random person working on half the movie alone in another country where she can't regularly meet with everyone else for feedback, storyboard meetings, script changes, etc. Plus the security of having one single person with that much of the movie? Yikes.

I love how nowadays when people publicly lie instead of taking responsibility for that they just start suing people.

I don't know how someone would think they would get away with faking being an artist in a film and not expect people to look her up

Austin, what i like about your videos is your calm delivery. I love tiktok drama videos on youtube, but a lot of channels have really obnoxious editing, loud voices (why do ppl shout at the camera 🫣), or gimmicky music. Your videos have the best style, plz keep it up!!

Her lying about something most of us artists couldn’t even DREAM of makes me sick. It’s pathetic

another scary thing here is the newspapers did not do a background check to make sure that what they are putting out there is factual.
