Oh Comfortable and happy are two way different things. Unfortunately I got out the last time in 2003, Kicked a hardcore smack habit, totally sober, with the girl I love and still have no idea what happiness is. Inside I literally took my misery out on other people, fighting, been stabbed up, cops cracked my scull, sometimes though I think I was better there. It was the first time I ever, ever, didn't feel guilt.

Such a drastic difference from the hyper violent. aggressive, race divided, men's prisons. One female prisoner described it as an all girl "college campus"; when is the last time you heard a men's prison referred to as a "college campus"?

@mannyb332211 yeah... your arguments have gotten off topic and have turned almost solely into insults... I won't be responding again. But I do want to say that I am not a stud or a butch. I am only a guy physically for now. And I'm not a know-it-all. I just know more about that than you do.

@plainbob13 I guess...But I wouldn't really say they're living a better life. I would much rather live out here and have a difficult time, struggling to make ends meet, than be incarcerated and have everything given to me.

@Miikaika25 some are already gay before they go to prison while others are turned out or curious. Being that a lot of the women are looked up for years, they look for comfort in other women. Sexuality is fluid, you never know who you might end up with : man or woman..

How long you do in there. Was it hard time. I always wondered about the Womens Lock up. We don't form really families as men, just get 5 or 6 people you hang with daily but those are one of the people I ended up fighting with.

Prison population is soaring because we have a lot of stupid laws that are vastly enforced (and possibly Americans are more violent than most other cultures) Women prisons seem less violent than male prisons (though it could just be biased reporting)

@Leonnidik I was in prison for 6 years, and it wasn't no country club. That's male prison though. Of course I don't know what it's like in women's prison, but I do agree with you that it seems that this girl is a little too comfortable. So, perhaps you're on to something with that chain-gang idea.

@Miikaika25 The idea that people are either gay or straight is a bit of a myth. It's not consistent with historians know of other cultures (Dynastic china, India and Ancient Greece, for example). People tend to have sexual preference towards heterosexuality and it's this preference that was first exploited by puritan ideas that lead western and islamic cultures into idea that people should only be straight... and then later on to the idea that people are one or the other. It's just not true.

Why do we capture the most dangerous people in the world and feed them a diet that keeps them strong? Fuck cruel punishment being illegal. If we fed these scums one meal a day they'd all lose weight and wouldn't be dangerous at all, or as dangerous. Then at least prison would be feared by everyone, not just the innocent.

I'm wondering are these women actually gay or is it something that happens as a mechanism in the brain where they simply settle into homosexual relationships for comfort. Someone should study this, it really is a key factor in rather homosexuality is nature or nurture.

@Miikaika25 Homosexuality is mostly nurture than nature. Homosexuality is found to occur at an increased frequency among communities where same sex people live together and deprived of opposite sex - e.g. military camps, prisons. Even they can be induced by popular culture - e.g. read about the band Tatoo from Russia and its influence among contemporary young girls. Most of the time homosexuality id induced by desperation, deprivation and/or insecurity. Born-homosexuals are comparatively rare.
