I became an U.N.C.L.E agent in 1966 when a newspaper was offering the cards up. I still have it to this day. I also have the triangular badge, the corgi car , a ring, two figurines, magazines comics books and dvds. Im as much a fan of the show as I was as an 8yr old kid. In fact I'm rewatching the show at the moment.

I had most of this stuff when I was a kid. James Bond stuff, Secret Sam, Agent Zero M. I had a good time when I was young, great memories. Thanks for posting. America was different back then. It was fun to be a kid.

It was cool that you referenced David McDaniel's backronym for THRUSH: Technical Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity. Sam Rolfe didn't know about it until I told him at a convention in 1986. Mr. McDaniel had THRUSH being founded by Prof. James Moriarty's assistant Sebastian Moran after the Professor's death while fighting Sherlock Holmes at the Reichenbach Falls.

Uh . . .I'm pretty sure that he knew about it in 1966, when it was sprung on him in a radio call-in show. His response was "The Technological Hierarchy for WHAT???" It was that interview which brought DMac to his attention as a writer.

When I was 10 years old I had a number of Man From UNCLE toys too! To my friends and I even the boxes were precious! When I or one of my friends would get a Man From UNCLE toy or game we would open it very carefully making sure the box was not damaged in any way! I had the UNCLE attache case and the UNCLE Sniper cap gun. It was fun being a kid in those days! In my Fifth Grade class picture I was the kid in the back sticking his chin out trying to look like Napoleon Solo! LOL ...LOL!!!

Man From Uncle Toys and Lost in Space Toys were the two biggest sellers of the mid 60's. I never had any Man From Uncle Toys but I did have a Star Trek Rocket Launcher Pistol, a Lost in Space Switch n Go set with the Space Chariot, a Johnny Magumba Rifle and one of my favorites was the Major Matt Mason astronaut with rocket pack and Space Crawler. I would have been a rich man if I had kept them. One more thing, Open Channel D.

Great! Thanks for sharing this. I've seen photos of the props on another site, but nobody seems to have April's communicator (she had one that looked like a small transistor radio, and it was also a sleep-dart gun.)

I asked for only one Christmas toy in '65 and I got it: The big Napoleon Solo Gun from Ideal. Wish I still had it. (Mint-condition-in-box might cost >$1,000 in 2022)

I had the Walther P38 carbine. I got a lot of use out of that weapons system. I wish I still had it, collecting different carbine versions would be fun as they were all based on what are now historical pistols.

I hadn't known there were variant add-ons for the Luger, the 1911A Colt .45 semi-automatic, or a revolver. The James Bond Attache Case toy had similar add-ons, plus additionals to match the case in FROM RUSSIA, WITH LOVE. The "U.N.C.L.E.-mobile" wasn't popular with the actors as the door sill was so high that there was no non-awkward way to get in or out of it. You'll notice that the photos are of the actors standing outside the car, or already seated in it, but never entering or exiting it.

Funny, who would have thought as a kid watching the show premiere that years later, I'd be interviewing one or the armorersfor the production company! Did you ever hear the story about ATF agents bracing to PEOSECUTE the prop personnel, for violating ATF regulation? They modified functional handguns (the WALTHER P-38 and the original MAUSER unit).

So disappointing that the UNCLE car was never utilized to its maximum potential. It was designed to have an array of weaponry and be amphibious. Most of those features were never seen in the series.

The Piranha car was part of a failed scheme to sell plastic car parts. It had a Chevy Corvair engine. Corvair cars were to come to be known as "Unsafe at any speed".
